Around Memorial
So much fun in the snow early last week!
We are starting to see the complete ST Math journeys rolling in!
Kindergarteners exploring greater than/less than with measurement.
Good Morning Memorial Families,
I hope that everyone enjoyed the long weekend and that you are ready for the cold weather this week! Please be sure that your child is dressed appropriately for outdoor recess each day, and remind them that they need to wear their coats to recess.
This week we welcome special educator Lauren Campbell to the Memorial team. Lauren is new to our staff, but is no stranger to Upton, having grown up here and attended the Mendon-Upton Regional Schools. Lauren went to Memorial for two years in elementary school when the school first opened, and is a graduate of the MURSD Spanish Immersion program. We are fortunate to be bringing Lauren on board midyear to fill a vacancy in our fourth grade team. I am certain that the students and families will find that she is a wonderful addition to our staff.
Our first district Inspired Learning Day is fast approaching on February 6th. For students in grades 1-4, they will be participating in a day of deeper learning focused on the Portrait of a Learner Superhero of their choice. One of our sessions, being run by Mrs. Hagen, is in need of some retirees who may have a hobby that they'd like to share with/teach an elementary school student. This could be anything from knitting, crocheting, crossword puzzles, Soduku, reading together, card games, ect... If you know of someone who may wish to volunteer for this day, please reach out to Leah Hagen at lhagen@mursd.org. This session was one of the most chosen by our students, and so we are hoping to be able to find some amazing people to come work with our students.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Wendy and Lauren
