This Week at Placerita 5.2.21 / Esta semana en Placerita 5.2.21
Good Evening Placerita Families…
This week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Thank you all so much for your assistance in providing assistance for our week long celebration of our teachers. Thanks for responding to Sandy Halstead’s (Our Placerita Parent Organization President) request for donations. Our ASB has a great week planned for them.
We are on a B WEEK this week so we will start with period 4 tomorrow (5/3). Just another reminder to please make sure you drop your students off next to school and not on the opposite side of the street. We want to keep all our students safe.
We are on the home stretch for the end of the year. We have the month of May and one week in June and then it is summer time. Thanks for hanging with us throughout this most difficult time in history. We have great hopes that next school year will be much different.
Please take a look below for information about our book fair, show choir tryouts at Hart as well as other sports information for you to be aware of.
Also, see below in the Prospector for information about ASB for next year for 7th graders, Hart Auditions for the Fall Musical and information about the COC Summer Institutes.
We look forward to seeing Cohort A Hybrid Group on campus tomorrow and Cohort B Hybrid Group on campus on Thursday. School starts at 8:00 and we will begin bringing students in through CrisisGo between 7:40-8:00 AM at the front gate. If you need help with CrisisGo let us know and we will work with you on getting all figured out.
That’s it for tonight. Let's have a great week!
Mr. Turner

The audition consists of two parts: a vocal audition and a dance audition.

Hello Placerita Families! We have some very exciting and important news for our community.
The new Student Care Line for Placerita will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems.
If you are a student, parent, or community member with a concern that needs attention from an administrator at Placerita please text us here. You can send a text message to (661) 282-7522. All text messages received will be forwarded to our former Text-A-Tip line. We now have a new reporting system for our students and their families to use to share a concern about another student's well-being. This reporting system is called the Student Care Line.
Over the last several years, the William S. Hart Union High School District has placed an emphasis on student wellness. Knowing that a student who feels emotionally supported is more successful, the District set out to open Wellness Centers on each of our campuses, with the first of those opening in August of 2019. Now the District is looking to expand this effort even further by taking the existing Text-A-Tip line and re-branding it as the new Student Care Line, providing a more comprehensive function.
Text-A-Tip has been used by students, staff and families to report something out of the ordinary. With the goal being “If you see something, say something"; Text-A-Tip was there to report if someone was wanting to hurt themselves or others, or even if there was the possibility of someone committing a crime.
The new Student Care Line will be broadened to include mental health and wellness concerns. If you are struggling or know someone who is struggling, the Student Care Line will make early intervention possible, allowing for small problems to be handled before they become big problems. Cause for concern might be indicated by:
Trouble controlling emotions
Withdrawal from friends and usual activities
Feelings of rejection or solitude
Feeling constantly disrespected
Frequent loss of temper
Increased risk-taking behavior
Talk of suicide or loss of hope
Self-harm
Declining school performance
Students and families are at their best when their emotional well-being is supported. Please join us in our commitment to this effort by using our Student Care Line when you need it.

We still have book return going on this week too... See below. Ver abajo.
Very Important Information about our Book Returns / Información muy importante sobre nuestras devoluciones de libros
We know that we are in a very difficult time to keep up with all our books and being able to make the time to return them. However, we have some classes that will not be able to provide the reading materials for students if we do not get all our books back so we can turn around and check them out to a different group of students. Another thing to remember is that missing textbook situations stay on your transcript all the way through High School and are one of the things that can create serious problems down the road (like High School diplomas being held or transcripts not being released... Yikes!) so please help us collect all these so we can continue to serve all students with reading materials. Thanks for your help with this. Note the information below...
1. Any student who has any of the following novels needs to return them this week , if possible:
Stargirl
Invisible Lines
Freak the Mighty
The Color of my Words
The Giver
Peak
(The first four novels were checked out to 7th graders either in August or for 2nd quarter. The final two novels were checked out to 8th graders at the same times.)
2. Books may be returned to the front office between the hours of 7:30 AM and 2:45 PM. There will be a cart up front for collections.
3. The library will be sending out overdue notices to students and parents. The note will show what is overdue and the replacement cost if the item has been lost.
Thank you!

Freak the Mighty
El color de mis palabras
El dador
Pico
¡Gracias!
