A Note From Mr. Christ

Dear Paddock Families,

With the weather getting colder, it is great to see students wearing hoodies, jackets, hats, and gloves to stay warm at recess. Unfortunately, this has led to many clothing items being left outside. I would recommend putting something that identifies the student or classroom on the tag of coats, hats, gloves, etc. in case they get misplaced. Also, our lost and found is now located in the main hallway. Students can check this as they walk by and parents will be able to search for items when they come in for parent-teacher conferences. We hope this will help to get clothing items back to their owners quickly.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

Sincerely-

Jason Christ

Principal

Car Drop-Off

As it starts to get colder outside and more families are driving their students to school in the morning, it is important to remember the car drop-off expectations. These expectations are in place to keep everyone safe, avoid car accidents, and ensure the drop-off line is moving as fast as possible.

  • Pull as far forward as you can before dropping off. There is a sign indicating how far to pull up if you are the lead car. This helps keep the line moving quickly.
  • Stay in your car. With the two-way traffic, it very dangerous to get out of your car at drop off. Staff will help open doors, give students backpacks, etc.
  • Do not drop-off and make a U-turn. There are buses coming in and cars that are exiting. This can cause an accident or back up traffic.
  • Do not drive through the parking lot. This will take you past the buses while they are dropping off and it is illegal to pass buses dropping off or picking up students.

Following these expectations will help to keep everyone safe and the drop-off line moving. Please reach out to Mr. Christ if you have any questions. Thank you for your cooperation!

Paddock Multicultural Week

This year, in lieu of doing an evening multicultural event, the week of November 15th-19th will be Multicultural Week at Paddock School! Students have the option to create a variety of different projects that represent their culture to be put on display in the hallways of Paddock. Displays will remain up through Parent-Teacher Conferences for everyone to see. Please review the flyers below to see how your child can participate in this exciting event!

Parent-Teacher Conference Sign Up

The sign up genius for Parent-Teacher Conferences will be open until Friday, November 12th. After the 12th, if you need to sign up for or change a conference time, please email your student's teacher directly.

Please use the linked document to sign up for your student's parent-teacher conference. Conferences are 20 minutes long and will be held in-person, at Paddock School unless otherwise requested. The conference schedule is:

  • Monday, November 22nd from 12:00pm - 8:00pm

Contact your child's classroom teacher with any questions.

Masks

Please make sure you are sending at least 1-2 additional clean masks with your child each day. These masks should be well fitting and cover both the student's nose and mouth without the student needing to continually pull the mask up. Having a well fitting mask is imperative to keeping our students safe and limiting close contacts, should a positive case arise. Thank you for your help in this.

Book Fair Extention

We have extended our Anderson Virtual Book Fair for one week! The new deadline to get your orders in is Wednesday, November 10th. Anderson’s Book Fairs have some of the best hand picked selection of books available. This is a wonderful way to support our school. Paddock will receive 45% of the profits in new books for our library! With the holidays right around the corner this is a perfect time to purchase books for gifts for friends and family. You can have your books delivered to school or, to keep them secret for your child, they can be delivered to your home! Go to www.abcfairs.com and start your order today!

Snapology

Paddock is excited to welcome back the Snapology after school STEAM enrichment program.

Toys For Tots

The Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association is proud to bring back their annual Toys For Tots holiday toy drive. Collection boxes will be located in the main vestibule at Paddock School starting November 8th.

Winter Wishes

Winter Wishes is a program that, in the past, has shown the unbelievable generosity from our community to make sure all our Paddock students have clothing, books, toys and winter outwear. Given these uncertain times, this program is as important as it has ever been.

This year, we are asking for hats, gloves, shorts, leggings, masks, snacks and gift cards (NO ELECTRONIC CARDS) to Walmart, Jewel and Target. For gift cards, any amount is welcome but denominations of $25 and under are most helpful. Gift cards can be brought to or mailed to the main office or turned into your student's teacher. Items will also be collected at Paddock School. There is a labeled bin in the vestibule at the main door. Collection begins during Parent-Teacher Conferences and will end December 8th.

Thank you for your support. If you have any questions, please contact Jessica Worst worstjessica@gmail.com

Student Online Personal Protection Act (SOPPA)

Privacy and student data protection is a key priority for the District. Our three main technology departments (instructional technology, technology, and data services) work to make sure our systems and vendors comply with the requirements of the Student Online Personal Protection Act or SOPPA, which regulates how student information is protected by school districts and education technology vendors they use. Our student privacy web page outlines our privacy related actions and protective measures.

We also employ a number of measures like on-site filtering, student device monitoring, and security tools which protect our network from outside threats. Students participate in digital citizenship curriculum, and staff can employ tools to support students in making good digital choices. Lastly, our district participates in several state and national consortiums, collaborating with other districts to keep informed on best practices and new resources that may support our data privacy policies.
