Picnic with Penguins
Friday, December 20th is our next Picnic With Penguins!
Weather permitting, come on out and enjoy lunch with your students. Note that the lunch schedule will have them eating first before going out to the playground on that day. If you know someone who can’t make it that day, check to see if you can bring a lunch for their child too. Here’s the schedule:
11:15 - 11:45 am Transitional Kindergarten (TK)
12:00 - 12:40 pm 4th and 5th grade
12:20 - 1:00 pm 2nd and 3rd grade
12:40 - 1:20 pm Kindergarten and 1st grade
We need parents to tend the sign in sheet at the gate for the event. Please sign up to volunteer here:

Your Donations Help Fund The Gap
As of December 1, the Foundation has raised $109,000 from your pledge drive donations, corporate matching, our Friends of the Foundation, spirit wear, book fair, the parking space raffle, and amazon.
For the 2019-2020 year, the Foundation has funded to date ($107,000):
- Science, PE, Meet the Masters, Music (salaries and supplies) - $42,000
- Teacher training/professional growth - $10,500
- iPads - $19,000
- Learning garden - $5,000
- Library $1,800
- Academic subscriptions (Lexia, Aleks, etc) - $16,000
- School supplies (laminating, copier, homework folders, etc) - $11,000
- Assemblies - $1,700
Our goal is to raise $160,000 this year. A 2018 report by the California School Boards Association found nearly a $2,000 gap between California’s per-pupil funding and the national average. Your donations help fund this gap and keep the Science, Technology, Art, Music, and P.E. programs here at Park Village. As 2019 comes to a close, we invite you to consider Park Village Foundation when making your end-of-year charitable contributions. Thank you for your support! https://parkvillagefoundation.com/.

Box Tops for Education
Don't miss out on earnings for our school - make sure you've got the new Box Tops mobile app on your phone. The app scans your store receipt, automatically finds participating products & instantly adds Box Tops to your school's earnings online. NO CLIPPING REQUIRED! Download today! Visit https://www.boxtops4education.com for more information.
We are still accepting unexpired clipped box tops. Please send them in to your child's teacher for a chance to win a pizza & ice cream party in June.
Volunteer Opportunities for 2019 - 2020
Park Village prides itself on our programs and events. However, they are all run by parent volunteers, and we need your help! We have opportunities of all types and sizes. Even one hour once a month can make a difference!
- Library - Help reshelve books. This task is constant and can happen any time of day. Perhaps you can help after morning drop-off or while waiting to pick up your child in the afternoon? You can make a difference in as little as 15-20 minutes. I just need folks to stop by regularly. Many hands make light work! No experience is required. If you’re interested, please email me at sfleming@powayusd.com, or stop by the library to chat.
- Recycling - Help sort and crush recycling. Second Wednesday of every month, 8-9 am, ESS Parking Lot. Even 15-30 minutes before school is a big help!. Contact Victor at pvesdads1@gmail.com.
- Science Night Volunteers - You will oversee a station while our little ones sharpen their science skills with their parents. Please sign up for a night when your own child is not attending - PV Science Night Volunteers. Contact Shannon Nellies at s.nellies72@gmail.com.
- Marquee Editor in Chief(s) - Update the marquee in the front of the school with our PVE news, and help keep our families informed! Contact Gigi in the office.
Heritage Fair Volunteers Wanted
The Park Village Annual Heritage Fair is on March 21, 2020. We are looking volunteers to help with the planning and running of this fun and festive event. For more information, please contact Nita Jha: drnitajha@gmail.com
Parking Lot Reminders
Please remember that the parking lot is for teachers and staff only, with the exception of the clearly marked visitor spots. We have many support staff members whose hours begin after class is in session. When they have to spend their time searching for parking off campus, it negatively impacts our student services. Thank you for your help!
