Registration for the 2016-2017 School Year
The registration process for the 2016-2017 school year is now underway! This process has changed somewhat from previous years. The biggest change is that the students are entering their course selections online through their HAC account. They can log on and pick the core classes they need, as well as the electives they want for next year. If a student needs log in information for his/her HAC account, they should ask their English or Math teacher, go the the Media Center or come the the Counseling Center for that information. We are advising students to do the following right now-
A. Talk over course selections with Parents/Guardians
B. Fill out the registration sheet
C. Log onto their HAC Account and choose his/her courses
D. Bring the registration sheet with them when the counselors meet with students during his/her English class. Counselors will be meeting with Juniors on February 9th & 10th, and February 17th & 18th for Sophomores.
Students will be able to make course changes in HAC up until February 19th. If a student needs log in information for his/her HAC account, he/she should ask their English or Math teacher, go the the Media Center or come the the Counseling Center for that information. A confirmation sheet with the courses requested will be printed out. When you come for CAP Conferences (Parent/Teacher Conferences) in March, you can review and make changes at that time. If you have questions, you are encouraged to email or call your student's counselor. Please scroll to the bottom of this message for email addresses.

CAP Conferences, March 14th, 15th and 17th
CAP (Career Action Plan) Conferences will be held on March 14th, 15th and 17th. These are marked on the school calendar as Parent/Teacher Conferences. During these CAP Conferences you will be able to briefly discuss your child's career plans and review his/her classes for next year. One of the goals of the CAP Conference is to try to align your students schedule with classes that will help him/her gain knowledge in a potential career area. At this time, please discuss with your student the best time for you to attend a CAP Conference on March 14th, 15th or 17th during the hours of 3:00-6:00 PM. Your student should relay that information to his/her CAP advisor so the CAP Conference can be scheduled. You should receive a green post card around March 1st with the time and date of your CAP Conference. School will be dismissed at 2:15 each day.

Effective for the 2015-2016 school year, students will have two ways to take the ACT test:
Required and provided by the Arkansas Department of Education through the local high school on March 1, 2016 - 11th grade only!
Optional and provided by the American College Testing through a student/parent registration on national test dates throughout the year.
Both ways of taking the ACT test will provide students with a valid, reportable score for colleges and scholarships.
On March 1, 2016 all Arkansas students enrolled in 11th grade will have the opportunity to take a FREE ACT test through the assessment requirements from the Arkansas Department of Education. The school will register the students and administer the test at school during the day.
Students may take the ACT during the year on a national testing date by completing the application and paying the fee. These testing dates and registration are the responsibility of the student and parent. Information regarding these traditional testing dates is available at http://www.actstudent.org/ or the counseling center. The ACT given on a national testing date is usually on a Saturday.
