Keeping Up with Google: Updates to Google Meet and Teaching Digital Citizenship with Google Classroom

Google makes changes all the time. Check our Tech Tip Tuesday newsletter each week for new updates made to products included in the Google Suite. This week Amy Hooper brings you some recent updates to settings in Google Meet. Google Meet has a new look in Google Classroom along with some new security settings. Click on the image to the right to learn more about the new security settings for Meet. We recommend checking your Google Classrooms in order to update or generate a Google Meet link.

Google Classroom and Google Meet are great tools to teach students about Digital Citizenship. Students have the ability to post comments on Google Classroom, so establishing a set of norms, expectations, and/or agreements is important when students have access to an online forum or virtual meeting. The new security settings on Google Meet will give teachers more control when using this tool with students. Watch the video below on how to bring Digital Citizenship awareness to students using Google Classroom.
