PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Thank you to all of you for your generous donations to the Walk-a-Thon. We had our highest donation total yet with over $25, 000. We truly appreciate all of your support. The online donation option was a huge help. We look forward to investing all of those funds into our school and our students. Last year the PTO generously purchased chrome books, iPads, flexible seating for classrooms, birthday books, project based learning materials, One Book, One School, and much more with our PTO funds.
Next Friday, October 25th will be my last day at Kerby. I am extremely grateful for all of the relationships I have formed over the past 5 years at Kerby. While I am excited about this next chapter in our lives, and I very sad to be leaving the Kerby community. I look forward to mentoring the new principal, Ms. Burke, next week. Please join us on Thursday, October 24th, at 5:30 pm for a meet and greet with her in the Kerby gym. Donuts and cider will be provided.
Next Friday will certainly be a bittersweet day for me. Thank you for all of your support and collaboration through the years!
Take care,
Dr. Delgado

HALLOWEEN ACTIVITES
As you begin to prepare your child’s costume this year, I would like you to do so with the following guidelines in mind:
No toy guns, knives, or swords. Bringing these items to school would be a violation of the Grosse Pointe Public Schools Code of Conduct.
No scary costumes. Although scary costumes may not bother the older students at Kerby, they can create anxiety and fear in many of the younger children. If a costume has a mask, students will be asked to not wear it while they are in the parade or building. Another concern is safety. We do not want students to have any difficulty navigating the parade route or the hallways when wearing a mask.
No fake blood. Again, older students may not have a problem with this, but we want to make sure that everyone in the Kerby community has the opportunity to enjoy all aspects of our Halloween celebrations.
If students come to school with any of the above, we will ask them to remove the item, or we may ask them to not participate in the day’s activities. If there is any question as to whether or not the costume is appropriate for school, my suggestion would be not to wear it. Thank you in advance for your help and cooperation in this matter. I am truly looking forward to Halloween at Kerby, and can’t wait to see all of you along the parade route.
