Review Activities with PlayPosit
At Foothill High School, in Christine Ivory’s Chemistry class, students are able to self assess and review their understanding of stoichiometry outside of the classroom with an application called PlayPosit. PlayPosit allows teachers to assign videos for students to watch on their own, while answering questions about that video and the content. Those student answers are recorded and used to gauge how much they have grasped these concepts before coming to class.
Mrs. Ivory uses PlayPosit to extend student learning and allow students to review asynchronously. She has found that students who take the time to answer the questions “are more likely to do well in lab situations when asked to perform those calculations.”
Follow Our FHS Science Olympiad Team
Our FHS Science Olympiad team did a fantastic job last weekend. It was a long day (14 hrs) with almost 30 different events ranging from physics to geology to helicopters to coding...etc. Super fun!
We have created our own Twitter account and would love to have followers. We are planning ahead for next year already and pictures will slowly be posted as we get up and running. You can find us at @FHSSciOlympiad on Twitter.

Foothill Television Hits Show 300
The Foothill Television Daily Show finished it’s 300th episode on January 18. Foothill Television is a daily, student-run broadcast that runs live at 10:45AM every week day. Foothill Television focuses on activities, athletics, arts, academics, and awesome people at Foothill High School. Students in the program learn to film and edit and then also take part in jobs every day ranging from Show Anchors, Producers, and Technical Director to operating cameras and designing graphics for the show. Students learn using professional grade 4K cameras and switchers and produce live events like assemblies, theater plays, and sporting events as well. Recent alumni like Molly Minnie (Class of 2016) attending the University of Oregon and Taylor Hofacre, (Class of 2017) attending Cal State Northridge are working on their college broadcast shows and credit what they learned on Foothill Television (FTV) to propel them to advanced positions so early in their college careers. Foothill Television can be seen on the Foothill Television channel on YouTube live daily.
