Wayne State College Cooperating Schools Scholarship
WSC awards this scholarship every year based on the number of WSC student teachers we have at Norfolk Public Schools each year. This year we will award 4 scholarships to students going to WSC in the fall of 2016. The scholarship will waive half of a student's tuition, for up to 16 credit hours per semester, not to exceed 128 credit hours toward an undergraduate degree. Students must be enrolled as a full time student and maintain a 2.5 GPA. Students also must be in the top half of the NHS senior class and have completed application for admission to WSC. To apply for this scholarship, please complete the form below and submit it by March 30th at 2:00 pm.
Elementary School Scholarships
Any senior student who attended Bel Air, Grant, Jefferson, Montessori, Washington, Westside, or Woodland Park Elementary Schools can apply for a scholarship. Amounts and number of scholarships given are determined by the individual elementary schools. All applications are due in the counseling center on March 31st.
Steve F Wemhoff Memorial Scholarship
The Knights of Columbus give two $500.00 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in local communities around the area. Selection is based on academic ability, leadership, activities, financial need, personal and career goals. All application instructions can be found below or see the counseling center. The deadline to apply is April 1, 2016.
The Norfolk Morning Optimist Scholarship
The Norfolk Morning Optimist Club is proud to be able to offer one $500 scholarship to a deserving student from Norfolk High School, Lutheran High Northeast, or Norfolk Catholic High School. The motivation for the scholarship is to inspire and reward outstanding candidates who have demonstrated civic service responsibility in the Norfolk community. The recipient must exhibit distinctive dedication and passion for volunteerism.
The application will need to be completed and turned in to your school’s counseling office by noon on April 1, 2016. Only completed applications will be considered. The student receiving the scholarship will be notified by the middle or end of April. Once the notification has been made, the Morning Optimist group would like to invite the recipient and his/her parents to a morning meeting to share some of his/her volunteer experiences and college aspirations.
Sacred Heart Altar Society Scholarship
The Sacred Heart Altar Society is giving a 2 $600 scholarships (one to Norfolk Catholic and one to a senior at another school) to a female senior of the Catholic faith and a member of Sacred Heart Parish. See the application below for more application criteria and an instructions for application. Please use your student ID number for the "Applicant's Number". Completed applications should be turned into the counseling center byApril 1st.
American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 16, Youth Scholarship
The Norfolk, Unit 16, American Legion Auxiliary is awarding 2 $200 scholarships to qualified high school seniors accepted into a university or technical college. Applicant must be a child, step-child, grandchild, step-grandchild, etc. of a paid member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 16, for no less than 2 years, living or deceased. Applications are due April 1st.
Meadow Grove Federal Credit Scholarship
Meadow Grove Federal Credit Union will give a $500.00 scholarship to a 2016 graduating senior that is a member in good standing at the Credit Union. Applicants are to write a short essay explaining their plans and how this scholarship will benefit him/her personally and his/her community. Applicants should also complete the scholarship application below by April 1st.
Midwest Bank Scholarships through the Cooper Foundation
Supporting and encouraging higher education is a priority to the Jim B. and Lillian F. Cooper Foundation Scholarship. This has been demonstrated through years of scholarships awarded to graduating seniors in the communities Midwest Bank serves. In each community, $1,500 is awarded for a one year scholarship to a student in need. One NHS senior will receive a scholarship. Deadline to apply is April 1st.
Midwest Bank also offers an Anne Cooper Scholarship for seniors graduating in the communities Midwest Bank. The Anne Cooper Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who demonstrates great involvement in extra curricular activities in their school and community while continuing to perform at high level in the classroom. One $2,000 scholarship is awarded at the end of each school year. This one is not guaranteed to go to a Norfolk Senior High Student. Deadline is April 1st.
Norfolk Noon Optimist Carol Gall Memorial Scholarship
This is a $500.00 scholarship for high school seniors. Below is an application to be filled out by the student and a form to be filled out by the counselor. Please return all information by April 15th. Scholarship recipients will be invited to one of the meetings to discuss their future plans. Please return completed applications to:

Faith Regional Health Services Volunteer Scholarships
Faith Regional Volunteer Services has over 175 volunteers who perform over 10,000 work hours in a single year! We take our service very seriously. In addition, Volunteer Services awards scholarships annually to recognize the gift of time given by volunteers. Every day, a volunteer at Faith Regional enhances a patient's life through acts of kindness and friendship. Their good citizenship is much appreciated by patients and staff.
These scholarships provide financial assistance to eligible volunteers to aid them in tuition and related expenses used in pursuit of a degree at any accredited U.S. higher education institution.
Scholarship Amounts
Scholarships are awarded with amounts of $500; $1,000; $1,500; or $2,000.
Eligibility
Applicants must volunteer a minimum of 110 hours at Faith Regional Health Services to be eligible to apply for a scholarship. Cumulative hours may be submitted from active status date through March 31 of the year applying for a scholarship. Once hours have been totaled and submitted for an application, that volunteer's service hours will be re-set to zero unless a scholarship is not awarded in which case the hours will continue to accumulate for future re-application. Volunteers are eligible to re-apply for a scholarship as long as all requirements are met. Volunteers not in good standing (3 missed assignments or 5 unexcused tardies) will not be considered.
Selection Criteria
Faith Regional Volunteers will be rated on the following criteria:
- Attendance
- Organization membership and community activities
- Leadership qualities
- Future goals
- Academics
- Total hours (110 - 150.9 hours = 10 points; 151 - 200.9 hours = 15 points; 201 - 250.9 = 20 points; 251 - 300.9 = 25 points; 300+ hours = 30 points)
Requirements
Applications are accepted once a year. A completed application, accompanied by three (3) letters of recommendation and verification of service hours from Volunteer Services, must be received on or before the application deadline of March 31. Incomplete files will not be considered.
Applicants must include a certified copy of their most recent high school, college or higher education transcript (if most recent schooling was within five years).
Applications must be applying to an accredited school and, if selected, must provide proof of registration prior to disbursement.
Nebraska Legal Professionals Association
This year, the Nebraska Legal Professionals Association will award a $1,000 and a $500 scholarship to Nebraska high school seniors who wish to further his or her education in law or the legal support field at an institution of higher education and who carries a cumulative 2.5 GPA. The Nebraska Society of Mayflower Descendants Burt and Becky Whedon Memorial Scholarship
The Society will award a $1,620 scholarship to a high school senior planning to attend an accredited 4-year college or university during the 2016-2017 academic year. Applicants must be a resident of Nebraska and a US citizen. Applicants will be evaluated by a witten essay, GPA and class rank, ACT or SAT scores, honors received, school or volunteer activities, employment, leadership, and letter of recommendation. Big Game Conservation Association Scholarship Application
The mission of the Association is to ensure the future of Nebraska's big game species (Big Horn Sheep, Elk, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Turkey, Antelope & Mountain Lion), their habitat and Nebraska's hunting heritage through targeted education, research and management partnerships at the grass-roots level and beyond. The Association has created this scholarship to provide financial assistance to high school graduates who will be pursuing a degree in the areas of Fisheries & Wildlife and demonstrate scholastic achievement, leadership ability, and dedication to wildlife conservation. One scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $500. Deadline is April 1st.

Lincoln Builders Bureau Scholarship Program
Member Company employees and their dependents can apply for a $750 college scholarship sponsored by the Lincoln Builders Bureau. Applicants must be enrolled or planning to enroll as an undergraduate in the upcoming year of an accredited college, university, or trade school with a focus on construction science. Awards will be based primarily on academic performance, work experience, school involvement, community involvement and career goals. Nebraska Agri-Women Scholarship
This is a $250 scholarship for any student planning on receiving an Agricultural related degree from either a College or a Technical Trade School in Nebraska only. This includes any Agricultural related studies such as diesel mechanics, etc. at a trade school. The deadline to apply is April 1st.
2016 Nebraska School Counselor Association Scholarship Application
3 $500 scholarship competition for any high school senior in support of their post-secondary education.
ELIGIBILITY:
- ü Must be a high school senior attending a public or private-secondary school in Nebraska.
- ü Must attend a post-secondary institution during the 2016-2017 school year.
- ü The scholarship will be paid directly to the institution.
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
- ü Write an essay that describes how your school counselor or the school counselor program has assisted you to plan/decide/resolve/grow in an area of your life. Topics may come from any related Pre-K-12 experience and are not limited to only the college or career planning process. We will award three (3) $500 scholarships to competitively selected recipients.
- Essays are limited to 500 words and will be reviewed for content and grammar.
- ü Essays should be typed and double-spaced. Do not put your name, your counselor’s name, or the name of your school on the essay. Failure to follow these guidelines will disqualify the applicant from consideration.
