CBHS Weekly Updates

February 18, 2019

Second Semester Progress

This Wednesday is the end of Learning Period 4 and the 7th week of classes this semester. Students should be settled into their second-semester courses at this point. Please make sure you are spending time each week with your student to review progress in classes. Your support at home is a key piece to student success at CBHS. If you have any concerns or see that your student is struggling in a certain course, please contact your PLT to discuss these issues so we can put supports in place.

CSF Application is now OPEN!

The CSF Application is open during the month of February. We are accepting applications for (First Semester (fall) grades from the 2018/2019 school year). Ninth Grade Students apply in February using Fall 2018 grades. To apply, click the link below.

WHAT IS CSF?

The California Scholarship Federation is an honor society that recognizes high academic achievement. Membership in this organization signified excellence in academic achievement. Students who maintain membership for a minimum of four terms during their 10th - 12th years are awarded LifeTime Membership. LifeTime members are honored as seniors by receiving:

· a CSF Lifetime pin

· a separate CSF gold seal diploma

· an Honor Cord/tassel to wear at graduation

Pennies for Patients

CBHS will be participating in a Pennies for Patients fundraiser during the month of February. This is a Homeroom competition but more importantly, supports a great cause, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Start collecting those coins. Jars will be available starting February 4th.

College Tour Series - CSU, Chico

Our second event of our College Tour Series will be a tour of CSU, Chico. Many students take this campus for granted living in Chico, however, the tour has great information about Chico State and the CSU System as a whole. This event will be Friday, February 22nd from 9:30-1:00. If you are interested sign up by Tuesday, February 19th using the link below. Questions, contact Fawn Ruby at fruby@corebutte.org.

Informational Meeting for Current 11th Graders

There will be an informational meeting for all 11th-grade students on Wednesday, March 6th at 4:00. At this meeting, Marlene Brenden, our school counselor, will cover SAT/ACT, a-g requirements vs general graduation requirements, course planning for next year, after High School options: college, work, military, financial aid/scholarship searches, and concurrent enrollment – CSU, Chico and Butte College. This is great information as students are approaching their senior year.
