Training: Managing Defiant Behaviors

Join us on Tuesday, January 16th, 2018 at 1:00 - 2:00 PM for a great training presented by Dr. Russ Barkley (WDS Grandparent)! Dr. Barkley is an internationally recognized authority on attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and an author of several books, who has dedicated his career to science based information on ADHD. He will join teachers and parents to discuss oppositional and defiant behavior and its management.

Superstars & Schoola Fundraiser

We are having another Superstars Pizza Fundraiser on Thursday, January 18th!

Along with Superstars, WDS will be collecting gently used and new women's and children's clothing for our first annual Schoola event! Schoola provides a very active platform that gets hundreds of thousands of views on our items with the hopes of selling them to fundraise. In addition, you and your family can shop their website for great deals with a portion of each sale going to WDS as well. Simply search for WDS before placing your order! All proceeds from this event will go to installing a new fence in the front of the building. If you have any questions, please contact McKenna at mckennacallahan@westhamptondayschool.org for further information.

Resource Update

Creative Movement: Happy New Year!! 2018 will be another great year in Creative Movement. We will be kicking off 2018 with Fitness and Health. Our students will learn fun fitness activities and learn about healthy habits. This means we will be having our 2nd Annual Healthy Habits Challenge!! Students will send in current pictures of them doing healthy habits during the month of January. The top 3 students with the most pictures will win great prize packs. Keep an eye out in your child's folders for more details and rules.

Art: Wow! The Fours and Kindergartens did a magnificent job with the Nativity play. In January, we will see if the weather will cooperate with some snow to paint, and we will try mapping the school.

Music: What a wonderful time we have had in December! We've learned all kinds of songs about Santa, the story of Baby Jesus and sang about his manger cradle, but we also sang about the story of Chanukah. Our composer of the month was Tchaikovsky, so we have been toy soldiers and fluttering snowflakes while listening to The Nutcracker. January will bring songs of winter, snow and snowmen. We might even build one.

Book Adventure Night [Thursday, February 15th at 5:00]
