Hello Rodman Families.

I hope you are all enjoying the long weekend!

This week's newsletter is full of district wide information so be sure to read it through. There is also an exciting ask for pumpkins and some parent volunteer opportunities. Our Coffee with the Coordinator is this Thursday from 12-1. Please join us! I promise to have coffee and treats! We can talk about anything you want and I can give you some school updates!

JOIN OUR SCHOOL COUNCIL

We are looking for parent volunteers to join our school council. This group meets a few times a year to review and update our school improvement plan. Each year, each school creates an improvement plan which identifies the priority areas for the school for that year. We are very excited to share with you the work we have done so far on our plan and are interested in your feedback on it. If you are interested in joining our school council please reach out to Mrs. Kilday at kildayd@cantonma.org.

Just a reminder that our arrival time runs from 9:00-9:10. Students arriving after 9:10 are marked tardy. Please make every effort to bring your child to school on time. We understand that things come up and the exception is totally fine. However, chronic tardiness is not a pattern we want to see start in preschool. If you are having a difficult time getting your child to come to school please let us know so we can help.

During our fall unit, we learn about the life cycle of the pumpkin and have many activities that involve pumpkins. It would be super helpful if your child could bring a pumpkin to school On October 13th or 14th. Last year we had 120 pumpkins! I am guessing we can beat that number this year!

The latest issue The STEAM Connection is now available! This newsletter provides fun information, resources, and activities to engage families in conversations about Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math at home. Be sure to check out the CPS STEAM for Students website for more resources and past issues of The STEAM Connection.

STEAM Week October 17-21

Massachusetts STEM Week is the week of October 17th and the theme is "See Yourself in STEM" again this year. As a district that promotes the arts, we will be celebrating STEAM week. Stay tuned for more details!

Cantonstock is the annual music extravaganza that showcases hundreds of student musicians representing all performing ensembles in the Canton schools, and is the primary fundraiser for MusicCounts, the volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to supporting all music programs in all the Canton Public Schools!

 Sponsor a Student for Cantonstock

T-shirt orders must be received by October 14th! Each student who receives $50 in sponsors will receive this year’s version of the popular Cantonstock T-Shirt! Shirts are 100% Cotton and the colors change each year so students enjoy collecting them as they progress through the schools! (Additional students in the same household only need to raise $15 each to qualify for a shirt too!)

 Be an Individual Sponsor

This option gives you different donation levels to select from and isn't tied to a specific student or deadline. We'll be happy to recognize your contribution on our website, social media, and other channels too!

 Be a Business or Organizational Sponsor

We’re so grateful to the businesses and organizations for their past support, and hope they continue again this year. We’d really love to add new business and organizational sponsors too! Please view our current and previous list of sponsors and be sure to support

Our CAPT is looking for parent volunteers to be room parents. This role will look a bit different than it does in elementary schools. Our room parents may be helping us with the following things: prepping classroom materials, helping organize our main book shelf, helping support our end of the year celebration, helping to create a classroom based bulletin board display, assisting with gardening etc. Our hope is that our room parents can help solicit volunteers for these things. The Canton Public Schools will be participating again in the Massachusetts State Seal of Biliteracy for the 2022-2023 school year. Please take a moment to take a look at the letter attached at the bottom of the update for more information!
