The Stallion Stampede

Janie Stark Elementary Parent Newsletter

December 5, 2021

Dear Stallion Families,

Last week, we celebrated students for our Leader in Me "Leader of the Month". As a campus, we have been learning the 7 habits of leadership - personal leadership principles that teach initiative, planning, and teamwork'/collaboration. Adults in organizations around the world know and love the 7 Habits. The same proven concepts are taught to students using language and examples appropriate to their developmental stage.

Ask your child what they are learning about during "Leader Time" each day. We know each one of our Stallions can be a leader and make a positive impact on those around them using these life-long skills.

To the BEST of days,

Mrs. Putman

Dismissal Updates

As a reminder, school is dismissed at 2:55 each day. We know that traffic can cause delays, however we are having more and more students picked up after 3:30 each day. Our traffic is usually clear by 3:15 each day.

Beginning tomorrow, Monday, we will bringing all students into the office at 3:20. Anyone that arrives to pick up their child after that time (3:20) will be asked to come in and sign the student out. This will help us ensure the safety of each child with the limited number of staff members we have at that time. Thank you for helping us by picking your child up promptly.

December Fun at Stark!

For the month of December the staff will be enjoying holiday “theme” days to bring excitement and fun into the classroom. We invite the students to participate in a few of the fun days as well! This is, of course, optional. Please do not feel like your child has to participate. These are only meant to be an exciting way to countdown the days until the winter break:

  • Tuesday, December 7 - Wear a reindeer shirt or reindeer antlers!

  • Thursday, December 9 - Wear a Santa hat or headband!

  • Monday, December 13 - Dress like the 1980’s for the 80th day of school

  • Monday, December 20 - Polar Express Day; wear pajamas

  • Tuesday, December 21 - Wear a holiday shirt for class parties

Again, participation is completely optional. My goal is always to create an exciting learning environment where kids want to come to school! When students have fun learning, the likelihood of high academic achievement increases.

Holiday Parties

We will be celebrating our class parties on Tuesday, December 21st at 1:45 pm. Right now, according to district guidelines, we are not allowed to have visitors on campus. Homeroom parents, PTA, and myself will be communicating how you can help support the classroom parties. Like last year, we will make sure the students have a festive and fun class party!

From district communication:

Beginning Monday, November 29, 2021, visitors will be allowed to attend in-person events outside of the normal school day meaning visitors may attend events held after the school day and/or on the weekends at our elementary campuses.

In order to minimize exposure to our younger students, elementary school visitors are not allowed to attend in-person events or eat lunch with their children during the school day. However, visitors are welcome to attend any outside events, where COVID-19 does not spread as easily, regardless of time, if deemed appropriate by the campus principal.

How to help with Holiday Parties

Holiday Parties are around the corner. Thank you to all the families who have already contributed $10 per student. These funds support the food and activities for all three parties: Holiday party, Valentine’s Day Party and End-of-the-year.

If you haven't had a chance to contribute and are able, there are two ways to send in your student's money. You can send in $10 in cash with your student to deliver to the office or by using the Stark PTA website, https://janie-stark-pta.square.site/ to pay by credit card. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find the party donation form and fill out. All of the money contributed towards the parties will be used only for the parties.

If you would prefer, you can send $10 cash to the office and it will be delivered to PTA.
