Air Conditioning Update
As you read this, we should be close to getting back to more normal temperatures. However, through this winter Marian has continued to work toward installing AC into our building. Our goal was to have a more comfortable learning environment for our students and our teachers. To accomplish this, we would first need to upgrade our electrical capacities to accommodate the power needed for the new units. The first estimate for the power increase and for the AC wall units in 2020 was:
- $50,000 for the electrical upgrade
- $5,000 for the AC wall units for 28 classrooms = $140,000
- The total for both would be around $190,000
After a few months and receiving a number of very gracious donations we became close to achieving our goal. With this I asked for new estimates so that we could begin the work needed to install the AC at Marian. As many of you could guess, the estimates changed and not for the better. In 2021 the estimates were:
- The electrical $80,000 (up $30,000)
- The AC units $7,000 (up $56,000) for a total of $196,000 (28 classrooms)
- This brings us up another $86,000 for the units and the electrical upgrade
- The new total for the entire building comes to $276,000
- An almost 50% increase in costs
I am not dismayed and I refuse to believe that we cannot obtain air conditioning for our school. Therefore, Marian will begin this summer to install new electrical panels with added power for the AC units. We will also begin the process of adding the AC units to classrooms on the second floor of our school building (the second floor gets much hotter than the first floor). The costs for this will be around $200,000, which Marian will provide with the help from our wonderful donors. To complete the project and add AC to the first-floor classrooms we will need around $77,000 through additional donations and fundraising.

Stock the Teacher's Lounge
Dear Marian Parents,
As we approach the last two weeks of school, the Parents Association is asking for your help in stocking the Teacher's Lounge with snacks and refreshments. The Parents Association has provided many of these things throughout the school year, and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. It means so much to the teachers and staff just to be able to grab a quick snack during the day. If you would like to participate, please select items from the sign up genius and deliver them either to the Front Office or the Development Office. The teachers and staff greatly appreciate it when they have these things available to them and we want to help make the last two weeks of the year a little brighter!

Thank you so much for your support and generosity!

Lunch Accounts
With the end of the school year right around the corner, we need to be sure accounts are all paid in full.
To avoid any unexpected issues for exams and senior exemptions, students will no longer be allowed to charge lunches – they must have money on their accounts and they must use their Marian ID card.
There are three ways to add money to your student's account:
1. Students can drop off money in the Office.
2. Payments can be made through the Marian website by clicking here.
3. Payments can be made through Mealtime by clicking here.
If you do not wish to add money to your student's lunch account, please remind them to bring a lunch to school.
Thank you for your assistance.
