Read Across America
Memorial School celebrated Read Across America to honor Dr. Seuss's birthday.
Tuesday, February 28
We began the week with our Kick-Off Assembly led by Dr. Bilsborough.
Students sang the Read Across America song led by Mr. R. (watch it here!)
There was a dramatic reading of One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish (watch it here!)
Wednesday, March 1
It was CRAZY SOCK DAY, inspired by the book, Fox in Socks by Dr. Seuss.
Thursday, March 2
This is the official Read Across America Day as it is the day Theodore Seuss Geisel (a.k.a. Dr. Seuss) was born. We celebrated his birthday in a BIG way. Lots of wonderful people from the Medfield community came in to read to our students. It's hard to know who had more fun - the students or the readers!
Friday, March 3
A very, very special guest greeted all the kids as they arrived at school in the morning. What a fun way to end our week of celebrating all things Dr. Seuss!
Thank you's all around!
This fun week would not have happened without a lot of help.
- Thanks to our wonderful staff for supporting and participating in this literacy program with such enthusiasm.
- Big thanks to Rob Skloff for dressing up as The Cat in the Hat - the kids loved your visit!
- And a very special thank you to an amazing group of parents volunteers from the Medfield K-8 PTO Memorial Literacy Committee including, Phyllis Skloff, Kelly Scobbo, Erin Keysor, and Nicole Drummond. This committee did a fabulous job decorating the school and made sure that each and every classroom had someone from the community come in to read to them. BRAVA Team Literacy - you outdid yourselves!
