The Buzz at Westbrook School

From the Principal...
May 13th, 2022
Dear Westbrook Families,
We are looking forward to an outdoor assembly next week provided by the PTO. Matt Wilhelm's BMX assembly program is one of the most popular school assemblies in the country. Matt's program covers Bullying Prevention & Kindness, Growth Mindset, and Resilience.
Our last day of Circle of Friends is Friday, May 20th. Next week, early childhood students will explore summer's theme, including butterfly sorting, a dramatic play ice cream shop, summer puzzles, books, and stickers. Students were excited to release their live butterflies this week. The PTO will sponsor Kona Ice for all students on Friday the 20th to celebrate the last day of Circle of Friends and the end of the school year.
Parents and guardians are invited to Westbrook on Thursday, May 26th, to celebrate our students moving on to the next grade level. We will parade from door #1 in a clockwise direction around the school. Please feel free to line up around the school to clap for your student. We will bring students back into the building and release them to families at the regular dismissal bell at 3:50 pm.
For your children,
Danielle Crandall

News from the LRC
The LRC was transformed into Camp Read S'More this week and we were joined by our friends from the Mount Prospect Public Library to learn about the Summer Reading Program.
Preschool children enjoyed a fun book and song with our MPPL librarians. Books from the public library were explored and all K-1st grade students were sent home with a brochure filled with fabulous book recommendations they can explore further over the summer.
Thank you to the PTO for helping to fund the flashlights for our happy campers!
~Mrs. Capra
