FMS Staff News
April 14th, 2019
Dear Staff,
Happy Sunday! I hope your weekend was one to relax and rejuvenate after the first week of MAP testing. We are on the home stretch..just three more days! Thank you for all you've done to make things go as smoothly as possible. I think we can all agree that MAP isn't our favorite thing, but we make the most of it because it is a way our state measures our progress. #3MoreDays
I spent the weekend in New Jersey doing a short keynote and attending a conference. It really helped me to reflect on the quote above. My energy is contagious and I have to make a conscience effort to ensure that what I'm spreading is what I want in our school. We all are that way. My challenge to us all this week is to reflect the energy you are spreading-what affects are your words, actions and attitudes having on our students, staff and families? Do they align with our mission, vision and collective commitments? I will personally look at my GPS challenge from the beginning of the year--my five words I hope students and staff would say about me--and recalculate. I will also find an accountability partner to keep me in check. And most importantly, I will be sure I find ways to bring a little more self wellness/mindfulness to take care of myself so that I can better serve our students and you all.
So why is this important? School culture is something we all add to or take from each day. These last few weeks are what we make them. Will they be easy? Void of stress? Lacking of negative situations? Include only perfect behavior of student? Of course not. But let's work on controlling the things we can control. Let's support each other, make each other laugh and presume positive. Let's talk to each other instead of about each other. Let's spend time preparing and being proactive as much as possible. Let's make this the best ending of school in the history of ending school. Together we have and together we can!
This time of the year is busy, busy. If you need Erica or me immediately, please text us or buzz the office and tell us you need us. We want to support you so PLEASE don't hesitate to tell us what you need.
Have a great rest of your weekend!

Trish's role will look a little different next year. She will be getting trained in the reading intervention "Just Words" by Wilson Reading. Trish will do three AC labs for reading intervention and three math interventions. She will also offer support specifically in 6th grade math.
