St. John Nepomuk Catholic School
News from the Principal
Our School Advisory Council began work in the fall to distribute a school survey to families. We recognize that families play an important role in the school success of children. Family engagement is strong at St. John Nepomuk Catholic School. In an effort to make family engagement even better and make sure our programs meet the needs of students, families were asked to complete a short school survey. This survey was distributed to St. John Nepomuk Catholic School families in October of 2017. The survey provided both paper and online submission options. Please see the summary of survey responses linked below. This survey summary does not reflect each question and associated data, but general data and trends. Individual comments will remain confidential. There were a total 63 surveys completed that are representative of 101 students. There were 136 school families at the time the survey was administered. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Okarche Track Meet Information
SJN Students in grades K-6 will venture to Okarche TOMORROW for our annual track meet. If your child is riding with another parent, please pay special attention to information regarding Oklahoma car seat laws and send the proper safety seat for grades K-2. Please remember that students should wear their light blue spirit shirt. We have these in stock in the office if you need to purchase one. Don't forget to bring essentials like your lawn chairs, sunscreen and drinks/snacks! There will be a concession stand for food and snack purchases if needed. You may access the field map HERE. We will depart from school immediately following morning assembly and will gather with other schools for opening prayer before events begin. If your child wins a ribbon, please make certain it is labeled with name & event and then given to his/her teacher. We will announce all ribbons at morning assembly on a later date. Once your child finishes his/her events for the day, you may sign him/her out. Please locate me on the field and sign the check-out sheet on the clipboard.
Please remember to be respectful to the Holy Trinity campus and others by keeping these requests in mind:
- As stated in the Archdiocesan Pet Policy, pets and animals are not permitted at school functions.
- Students and families should not bring sports equipment to the track meet. This includes but is not limited to footballs, frisbees, basketballs, etc.
- Holy Trinity has requested that students not play on playground equipment.
- Please be diligent to supervise children at all times. While the field and grounds at Holy Trinity will be filled with SJN families and families of those attending from other Catholic schools, we will not be protected by outside individuals and others not associated with our event. Please be vigilant to keep our children safe!
Thanks for your support and GO FALCONS!
Uniform Changes
Dear Falcon Families,
On April 19 we announced several changes to our uniform guidelines as we transition to Dennis Uniform. We received concerns regarding the decision for middle school ladies to only have the option of the uniform plaid when choosing to wear a skirt or skort. I met with your School Advisory Council recently, and we have decided to continue to offer navy skirts and skorts for grades 6-8 as an option for the 2018-2019 school year. This amendment was made last week. The changes are reflected on our school web-store on the Dennis Uniform website.
We are still considering the feasibility for a plaid only skirt/skort option for grades 6-8 for the 2019-2020 school year, and we need your help and feedback. Please attend the Dennis Uniform fitting event this weekend and offer your feedback on the fit, style and impressions of the plaid options from Dennis. We will continue to monitor this area share a decision with you next year as we plan changes, if any, to the school dress code for the 2019-2020 school year. The updated information regarding skirt/skorts for ladies in grades 6-8 and information regarding the Dennis Uniform fitting event is below. Thank you for your support and active participation as we consider changes for the 2019-2020 school year.
Plaid Jumpers, Skirts and Skorts
- Plaids purchased at Parker Uniform may be worn as long as they are in good repair. The plaid offerings from Parker Uniform and Dennis Uniform are nearly identical.
- Plaids purchased at Parker Uniform may be worn as long as they are in good repair. The plaid offerings from Parker Uniform and Dennis Uniform are nearly identical.
- Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, the approved skort and skirt styles for ladies in grades K-8 are the Dunbar Plaid or uniform navy styles.
- We have added an additional style of Dunbar Plaid jumper for girls in grades K-4. This style is the Dunbar Plaid Box Pleated Shift Jumper.
- Beginning in the 2018-2019 school year, boys in grades K-8 must wear the Dunbar Plaid necktie or bow tie offered exclusively through Dennis Uniform as part of their Mass Uniform.
Polo Shirts
- Students in grades K-8 may wear either white or wine polo style shirts on non-PE days. The wine polo purchased from Dennis Uniform carries the St. John Nepomuk Catholic School logo. Families will have the 2018-2019 school year to phase out remaining wine polos purchased from Parker Uniform. Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, when wearing a wine polo, students will be required to wear the wine polo with the St. John Nepomuk Catholic School Logo purchased exclusively through Dennis Uniform. At this time, white polos will not carry the St. John Nepomuk Catholic School logo and may be purchased at any uniform supplier.
- We are excited to add a navy polo dress for girls in grades K-2. This dress may be worn on non-PE days. This dress is not an approved item for the Mass Uniform.
- In addition to the existing button up cardigan, students in grades 6-8 may wear the Navy Sweater Vest while wearing their non-PE uniform and Mass Uniform.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I want to extend a special thank you to our School Advisory Council for their assistance and guidance in this process. I hope all of you have a pleasant experience with Dennis Uniform at our shopping event this weekend!
Sincerely,
Natalie Johnson
Principal
