October 11, 2022
January 9, 2024
Hopefully you are well rested and ready to continue the amazing work that has been completed thus far! We appreciate all of your effort and instructional work to drive improving student achievement and continuing to build a positive school culture for our students. We look forward to continuing this work throughout 2024 with such a dedicated, passionate, and encouraging team of educators.
Stay Focused on the Vision
The focus remains:
- Teaching grade level standards
- Using the curricular tool with fidelity
- Workshop model (Do Now, Direct Instruction, Work Time/Activity, Debrief, Formative Assessment)
Preparing Students for Success - Incorporating Test Prep
Standardized testing is on the way! Now is the time to start thinking and planning for ways to incorporate test prep into your daily routine. Some strategies might be to break down key vocabulary, rule out multiple choice answers, plug in the answer to the problem to see if it makes sense, expose students to infographics and their key features, or read the questions first then read the passage.
Please share your best test prep strategies that you have used with your students by sending them directly to Jacqueline Lutz. They will be featured in future Instructional Minutes!
An Exciting Opportunity...
We are pleased to share an exciting opportunity for educators in our state/district. K-12 teachers and higher education faculty across the country can apply to attend professional development programs funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). Selected educators will develop new teaching methods while delving deeply into a humanities topic through one- to four-week residential, virtual, and combined format programs.
This summer, NEH is offering 44 programs on a variety of humanities topics ranging from Shakespeare to the Space Age. These programs are highly competitive, but successful applicants receive an invaluable experience for educators to deepen their understanding of the humanities and learn new ways to incorporate that knowledge into their teaching. The application deadline for all 44 programs is March 5.
