Virtual Classes Launched

We are so excited to be able to deliver our program online and at your convenience. HSE classes began virtually using Canvas and ESL classes began virtually and will begin using Burlington English online very soon. Teachers are able to use a variety of platforms to meet with their students including Zoom, Facebook Groups, and YouTube channels.


Our staff has worked hard over the summer to put together this online programming for our students. We hope that it helps connect you with your continuing learning. We are also working to create opportunities to share community resources with you. These monthly newsletters will provide you with links and information on our programming, community partners, and resources.

Director of Union Adult Learning Center

Dr. Susan Hartzler has worked at Union Public Schools for over 34 years. She first joined Union in as a seventh grade math teacher and cheer coach. During her career at Union, she has taught math, worked as a school counselor, and as an assistant principal at the high school. In 2016, Hartzler became the Director of Union Adult Education. In each position throughout her career, Hartzler has focused on developing positive relationships with her students while providing a structured environment for student development and academic success.

Dr. Susan Hartzler has a doctorate degree in School Administration from Oklahoma State University, a master’s degree in school counseling from Northeastern State University, and a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri.

She and her husband, Dr. Kirt Hartzler, have three kids of their own, Austin, JC, and Paige.

Quarter 2 Enrollment

Monday, Oct. 5th, 9am to Tuesday, Oct. 6th, 8pm

This is an online event.

Our second quarter enrollment will take place beginning October 5th. It will take place online. The link can be found on our website. The link will accept responses beginning on Monday at 12:01AM and close on Tuesday at 11:59PM. A staff member will contact you with instructions via email and links for every step of the process.


There are 3 steps to enrollment:

1) Submit Pre-Enrollment Survey on October 5-6

2) Schedule and complete your TABE pretests by October 6-8

3) Complete enrollment paperwork by October 9


You will not be enrolled if you do not complete all 3 steps within the enrollment period.

Career Guidance Specialist

Jesi McGhee has worked in a variety of roles for Union Public Schools for over 10 years. She is a certified visual art instructor and has worked with the Adult Education program for 3 years. She is tasked with making connections between Adult Education students and career pathway information and training. She can be reached by phone or email.

Career Guidance Zoom Calls

We want to introduce our students to our community partners, share resources and training opportunities, as well as help our students find career pathways that best suit them. Zoom calls will take place twice per month and be recorded and posted on our website for students to view at a later date.

TRiO Counselors will join us for our first Zoom calls. They will discuss their programming and ways that you can utilize the TRiO program as a resource for post secondary education, whether that is college or career training. The TRiO Program is free for students. There will be opportunities to sign up to meet with the TRiO counselors individually.

Evictions and Foreclosures in OK Due to the coronavirus, the Oklahoma Supreme Court has ordered that the courts remain closed until May 15, 2020. This means that no court hearings will be held and no eviction orders will be issued until after the courts reopen.

Common Ground Food Pantry - Mondays 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. and Thursdays 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Food distributed outside the building. Do not arrive early if you are coming for food. Have your ID and proof of residence ready.


Eastland Assembly of God Food Pantry - These ministries are available to our community on the first and third Tuesday of each month from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. Our guests should park on the East side of the building towards the back and come in the East doors.


Guts Church Distribution Center - Every Friday at 10 a.m. we provide FREE GROCERIES and FREE CLOTHING to those in need. (NO ID REQUIRED). Guts Distribution Center is located at 4352 S 91st E Ave in Tulsa, OK 74145.


Iron Gate Tulsa - Our grocery pantry is open on Wednesday and Friday from 12:00 p.m. - 1 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The grocery pantry provides a self-serve grocery bag of basics and fresh produce with no required documentation.


John 3:16 Mission Youth & Family Center - To receive help with supplemental groceries or clothing, you will need to contact our Family & Youth Center and set up an appointment. Make an appointment by calling 918-592-1186.


Loaves and Fishes - Those who feel they are in the group that is most vulnerable to COVID-19 should contact the ministry to make an appointment, 918-234-8574 between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon.


Restore Hope - Provides emergency food pantry located at Asbury United Methodist Church. Restore Hope will only be open at our SOUTH location. Our food service hours will be Monday-Thursday from 12:30 - 3:30 p.m.

COPES - It's a free and confidential 24/7 telephone crisis line and mobile crisis service, provides emotional support for children and adults in suicidal crisis or emotional distress.
