Hillcrest Family Newsletter
May 29th, 2020
Message from Mrs. Lincicum
There was a lot of learning squeezed into a short week! Thank you so much to everyone for hanging in there with us. We have accomplished so much as a community and we are getting ready to celebrate!
Be sure to join us for the parade at 11:00 on Tuesday, June 9th. This will be a perfect chance to wave good-bye to each other before summer. The route will be the same as last time; enter at the East driveway (next to Carroll) and work your way through the parting lot. Be sure to add a thank you to Mrs. Runingen in your sign. She will be our honorary Grand Marshall as she retires after this school year. We hope to see you there!
Reminders:
*The end of the year is coming very quickly and here are some dates to be aware of:
-The last day for new learning for students will be Thursday, June 4th. Friday, June 5th is still a day for catching up on assignments and following up with anything else that needs to be submitted.
-Monday, June 8th is a grade level day with grade levels planning end of year activities.
-Tuesday, June 9th is our whole school end of year activity. We will be hosting a reverse parade from 11:00-Noon, with a few extra fun surprises planned. We hope families are able to join us at some point beginning at 11:00. We LOVED seeing our kids having fun waving their signs last time and we hope they are all looking forward to Sum-Sum-Summer Vacation!
*Summer school registration is open now through June 1st. SDW Summer School is virtual this year as school buildings are still required to be closed until June 30th. More information and Course Guide materials can be found on the district's Summer School webpage.
*iPads will not be returned to school. Students won't be receiving additional assignments or communication from teachers after June 9th. If you are moving over the summer and no longer attending Hillcrest, please arrange to return the iPad and charger to our office. Tech support is available all summer for iPad use as it relates to our technology tools.
*If you were not able to pick up your child's belongings during the pick up days, please reach out to Mrs. Perez to arrange a pick up time.
* If you know your child is going to be absent from virtual learning for a day, please email Mrs. Perez at tperez@waukesha.k12.wi.us or call 970-1805 to report an absence.
We are still here for you. If there is anything we can do to help. Please reach out. No one should suffer through this time alone. We are better together and we genuinely do want to help. The last newsletter of the school year will be coming next Friday.
Take care,
Talk soon,
Faith

* Go through the Webex spaces and messages your child has been having. These spaces are meant for school conversations and it is important that you are aware of who your child is communicating with. Continue to monitor the conversations they are having. Go through Gmail for the same purpose and feel free to delete anything that doesn't relate to a current assignment or upcoming tasks.
* Go through the camera roll and delete any photos, videos and screenshots that aren't related to school assignments. Students take a lot of selfies. If anything needs to be saved for school purposes, it can be uploaded into Drive. If there are personal photos on the device, please send them to a personal device or a personal photo storage system.
* Go through Book Creator to clean up files that aren't assignments and upload any assignments to keep into Drive.
Thank you for your help with this. We usually walk students through this process at the end of the year. The additional pictures and documents take up memory and may prevent updates and additional apps from being downloaded in the future. And, we want to make sure parents are monitoring the conversations between students to ensure safety.
Public Library Reading Program

We’ll communicate through the summer, as well, about our virtual programming and any programming that may take place at the library later in the summer.
