This week in Language Arts:

READING: In Reading this week we will continue to analyze characters and the changes they undergo throughout a story. We will create a character trading card on Friday to post and share with others. We will review cause and effect and main idea in a fictional story.

WRITING: We will spend this week working through the writing process to create an expository text based on the prompt "Write a paper explaining the importance of having and following safety plans". Students will write using a "Hairy-E outline" or "Text Structure" outline to organize their thoughts.

SPELLING: This week's spelling words come from Unit 21. We will be reviewing the concept of changing the y to "i" and adding the appropriate suffix. Spelling words for the week will be recorded by students in the far right column of the week's agenda. Pace Language Arts students will have an extra 8 words per week. Any students wishing to include the pace words into their spelling test may do so.

If you won't have access to a computer during the week, please let your homeroom teacher know early in the week. ;)

Class Blogs!

Students can access their homeroom's class blog from home. The blog gives them an opportunity to practice writing and communication skills in an ever expanding digital world. We have discussed the importance of students using their best "netiquette"! Manners online are just as important as in person. "Treat others how you want to be treated!"
