Fun With Reading
•Invite a child to read with you every day....
•When reading a book where the print is large, point word by word as you read. This will help the child learn that reading goes from left to right and understand that the word he or she says is the word he or she sees.
•Read a child’s favourite book over and over again.
•Read many stories with rhyming words and lines that repeat. Invite the child to join in on these parts. Point, word by word, as he or she reads along with you.
•Discuss new words. For example, “This big house is called a palace. Who do you think lives in a palace?”
•Stop and ask about the pictures and about what is happening in the story.
Lunch Box Checklist
Back to School: Lunch for Kids
Most parents want their child to take a healthy lunch box to school. After all, studies have shown that a nutritious lunch helps kids perform better educationally.
An App for Learning Toddlers
Letters with Pooh is an interactive app filled with delightful activities designed to help young children identify and write letters of the alphabet. Children will join Winnie the Pooh on his quest for honey and help him reach a honeybee’s hive by tracing letters and collecting letter balloons.
Nursery Rhyme Of The Day
Babysitting vs Nannying Services
1. 'Sitters' are generally understood to take care of your children on a 'one off' basis (either during the day or at night), even though you may use the same Sitter repeatedly. Their hours can vary depending on your needs, and they're usually 'on call' for last minute requests as well.
2. 'Nannies' are contracted to look after your children and have a weekly schedule with set hours. An Island Sitters nanny's sole responsibility is on your children and they are not typically expected to fullfill the role of housekeeper as well. However, duties such as cooking for or cleaning up after the children are generally expected as part of the job.
