K-4 Field Trip to Agua Caliente Park, Next Tuesday, 9/19

Field Trip next week!

Who: ALL Lower School (K-4) Students and teachers

Where: Agua Caliente Park

When: Tuesday, September 19, 2017

The bus will leave school at 9:00 am, and return around 1:00 pm

Why: We will participate in the Experiencing Nature Through the Senses workshop. This fun and exciting workshop allows students to use their senses to explore plants and animals while creating a nature journal to record scientific observations. We will also participate in the Self-Guided Nature Study program to help us practice using our nature journals.

Important: We will be having a late lunch when we get back. Please pack a hearty snack along with a water bottle for your child. Good walking shoes, a hat, and sunscreen (applied before coming to school) will be necessary. Fill out the permission slip below.

Chaperones: We have space for 8 adults chaperones. If you are interested, please email Joy at carruthjoy@vailschooldistrict.org

Volunteers Needed: Junior Achievement

Civano Community School is again partnering with Junior Achievement this year to provide the JA Days educational enrichment program to our students. This exciting educational event uses our parents as volunteers to lead fun, interactive sessions that connect the classroom to the world of work, by teaching our students about money, decision making, businesses and careers.

We are looking for two volunteers for each classroom for our JA Days on Wednesday, October 25th and Thursday, October 26th from 8:30am-12:00pm, each day. The program will be divided in to two half days. Volunteers are asked to commit to both dates.

Our volunteer orientation will be held at our school on Wednesday October 18th at 3:00pm. JA will supply all of the materials and training; our parent volunteers will share their time, experience and insight to help our students build their futures!

As a parent, you are already aware of the great impact an adult can have on the life of a child. We invite you to help make an impact on our community’s future by volunteering with us at our Civano Community School JA Days. You can learn more about the JA program by going to the link below.

Please contact BJ (madsenb@vailschooldistrict.org) if you are interested in volunteering with us at this exciting educational event.

Diaper Drive:

At Civano, we value our small community and the larger Vail community. The entire Vail School District is working together to try to collect 100,000 diapers for the Vail Food Bank by this Friday. All size of diapers (including adult) are in need. We have collection boxes at both campuses. Civano is small, but mighty! Let's do this!
