Week-At-A-Glance
The Weekly Update for NPHS Staff, May 4 - May 8, 2020
EOY
Hello Patriot Staff,
EYO = End-of-Year.
It's May...a May like no other. School will officially end this month, and there are tasks everyone must complete before calling it quits for the summer. Please read below to see what those are.
There is a temptation in all freedom-loving peoples to discard the tethers that limit freedom. Keeping that temptation in check is reason. I want to thank you for your cooperation and reasonable thinking thus far during this pandemic and resulting school closure. It hasn't been easy for me, and I long for the return of our pre-COVID freedoms. I believe they will come soon, and I am frequently reminding myself to be patient for a little while longer.
In the meantime, I encourage you to focus on finishing the year well. We are professionals, educators, and role models.
Have a good week,
John Fink
Interim Principal
Information You Should Know:
• Teacher Classroom Checkout: For most, this process concluded last week. If you still need to come in and prepare your room/area for the summer, contact Marianna or April to be put on the manifest. Onsite, we are still required to maintain social distancing and wear a cloth face mask around others when in close proximity.
• ESSA Room/Office Checkout: Sign up here. We start this process on May 4th. Here are the expectations for the checkout process.
• Custodial Schedule Update: Beginning the week of May 4th, all 5 of our custodial crew will be coming into the school from noon - 8 pm, and on the following week (week of May 11th), coming in at 7:30 am. We are making adjustments to the personnel numbers on the onsite manifest to maintain compliance with health mandates.
• Manifest: is here (use tabs at the bottom to navigate). We are limiting the number of personnel in the building according to Central Office guidance and their interpretation of the Health Mandates. All staff planning to come to the building should check the manifest first as it is updated on a weekly basis. You are not allowed in the building unless your name is on the manifest, or you receive permission from the administration. Sorry for any inconvenience, and thank you for your cooperation.
• Student Locker Cleanout: The process of using our online form to do this concluded last week. If students or parents now wish to pick up their personal items at the school, they are required to call the school weekdays during working hours. On Wednesday, May 13th, we will donate/dispose of the black plastic bags on the school floors containing personal items, in order to allow the custodial crew to clean.
• Textbook & Chromebook Collection: This process has begun and will continue for this week and next. After May 15th, students who have textbooks and Chromebooks not returned will be assessed fees. A big shoutout to the staff working on this, and to April Scott, who are continuing to put in many hours for this collection process.
• Grades Finalized: Teacher S2 grades must be finalized before leaving for the summer. The deadline to do this is May 19, 2020.
• FFA Flower Baskets: A complete sell-out...thank you for supporting FFA!
• Yearbook Distribution: Mary McFetridge and Rebecca Missler will be distributing Yearbooks to students and parents this week at the bus doors on Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 - 3 pm.
• Senior Graduation is continuing to be safely and individually filmed Monday and Tuesday in Oehring Auditorium and will air as a pre-recorded ceremony on Channel 11, Thursday, May 14th, at 7 pm. Student speakers are Jake Wade, Clayson Wiley, and Olivia Ode, and the faculty speaker is Jerry Million. Dina, Chris, Matthew, Brad, Richard, Audra, Andrea, Mary M, Rebecca, and Elizabeth B have done, and are doing, amazing work to make this happen! Please let them know.
