New - ALL Families - 1st semester reminders
The end of the 2nd quarter/first semester is nearly here. Here are some helpful reminders as far as calendar dates:
December 21 - December 22 Normal School Days
December 23 - January 3 Winter Break
January 4th: School resumes
January 15th: End of 2nd quarter - No school for students (staff have PD day and grade prep)
January 18: No school - Martin Luther King Holiday
January 19: School resumes as we start 3rd quarter
January 28: Grades for 2nd quarter will be available for parents to view in ParentVUe
Our students have had great first and second quarters of learning and we continue to see the positive impacts of our learning management system, Canvas, in our classrooms. As we gear up for the end of this quarter, please take note of the important information below regarding grades and courses in Canvas.
New – All Families – deep breathing and calming strategies for students when feeling anxious
Deep Breathing and Grounding are two mindfulness strategies that can help individuals calm their minds and bodies when they feel anxious and out of control. These two techniques are often used together. See attachment for these strategies and descriptions.

Need some help? Blue Valley has a variety of resources available for parent support on the district’s Canvas web page, www.bluevalleyk12.org/canvas.
End of 2nd quarter and semester information
At the end of the day on Friday, January 15th, courses in Canvas will conclude and will no longer be visible on the Canvas Parent app. A concluded course is only visible through the Canvas Website. To view first semester courses and grades after January 15th, open Canvas in a web browser, log in, and click on the Courses tab. Click View All Courses and scroll down to find the past enrollments. Final exam scores and other individual assignment grades can be viewed in Canvas. Semester grades reports will be published in ParentVUE in January.
New - ALL Families - updates from December 14, 2020 BOE meeting
The Blue Valley Board of Education approved revisions to the 2020-21 school year calendar thanks to new guidance from the Kansas State Board of Education associated with inclement weather days and new professional learning opportunities in the second semester. The revised calendar includes additional No School days in January and February, as well as a full week for Spring Break. Other highlights include:
Jan. 15, 2021: No school EC-12; ½ day professional learning and ½ day grade preparation (no school for students)
Feb. 25, 2021: No school EC-12; parent-teacher conferences
March 15-19, 2021: Spring Break
