Volunteer Needs
We could use your help!
All volunteer opportunities are posted on Better Impact. In addition to the opportunities listed below there are also volunteer needs posted for the production room and library!
COVID PROTOCOL UPDATES for Volunteers:
All volunteers still need to be registered through Better Impact, and must upload either a Covid vaccine card (2 Pfizer, 2 Moderna, or 1 J&J vaccination) or a medical/religious exemption form. If you are a fully vaccinated, masking is optional while volunteering in the schools. If you have a medical/religious exemption, you are allowed to volunteer with students, but required to wear a mask.
Please see the district Covid Protocol FAQ for more information.
Earth Day Lead Needed
Earth Day is April 22. Historically, the NRCO Green Team has hosted a school grounds clean-up activity on or around Earth Day. If you would like to lead this year’s Earth Day clean-up, please contact Jill Rector at president@nancyrylesco.com
Art Literacy is Back
Art Literacy is back and we need your help! No previous art experience necessary, we're looking for volunteers with an interest in learning and sharing art with children. All information and materials are provided and responsibilities are shared with other volunteers. You can choose to present to the class, or be a class assistant. If you are interested in volunteering for your student's classroom please contact Amanda Cary (manda_lee2001@msn.com) for more information. Our first Art Lit training will be on Wednesday, April 6th at 9am and 7pm, in the school cafeteria.
Production Room
Our teachers love to have help with tasks like copying, cutting, and prepping projects for students. Helping in the production room gives you the opportunity to help behind the scenes, doing projects that save our teachers SO MUCH time.
Library
Do you love being in the center of the school? Helping shelve books in the library gives you a perfect spot to be in the heart of our school.
Classroom Volunteers:
Classroom Liaisons have been coordinating with their teachers to identify when would be helpful to have classroom volunteers. Many of these shifts have already been added to BetterImpact. If you are interested in helping coordinate volunteers for your teacher’s classroom, the following still need Classroom Liaisons: Davenport, Beals, Olson, Otter, Minnieweather - sign up in BetterImpact and contact Amanda Cary at manda_lee2001@msn.com for additional information.
NRCO
Volunteer Coordinator needed to join the leadership team. This person is responsible for welcoming and training new volunteers at Nancy Ryles, updating BetterImpact with school-wide volunteer opportunities, and coordinating with Classroom Liaisons for Classroom volunteer needs. If you are interested in volunteering for this position or learning more about it, please contact Jill Rector president@nancyrylesco.com. Starting now is a great way to decide if this is a volunteer position you’d like to have for next year as well.

Conferences
The district has determined that all elementary conferences will be held virtually via Zoom. You should expect signups to be sent out by your teacher by April 8th through Parent Square, similar to how they were in the fall. Specialists will also offer open office hours and will be available to conference with families. We encourage all parents to sign up to meet with your teacher to hear about your student's academic and behavioral progress.

Safe Routes to School
Walking and Rolling is Good for the Earth!
April is the month we celebrate Earth Day and one way you can help our planet and combat climate change is to replace car trips with active ones! 2 miles of driving = 1.6 lbs of carbon emissions. Think about local car trips that your family takes often. Maybe it is a trip to the park or a friend’s house. Map your route and try walking or biking instead. We often think places are farther than they seem. Give yourself plenty of time to get to your location and be amazed at what your body can do for you!
