Back to School

Thank you to everyone who attended Sneak Preview, and welcome back for another great school year! Thank you to our wonderful PTA for all their help and support in getting the school year started. I hope you all have joined.

Our school day begins at 8:55 a.m. and students should be in their classrooms by 8:50 a.m. The earliest time that we have supervision in place for students is 8:00 a.m. Please do not drop off your student prior to that time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. What is the procedure for picking my student up early?

A. If a student needs to be picked up early, a note should be sent with the student to the front office in the morning, stating the time the parent would like him/her at the front office. The student will get it stamped by the office and this is the pass to come up front to be checked out. We do this so as not to interrupt the class and instructional time. Please do not call the front office requesting your child be sent to the front office. Once you are in the building, we call them up.

Q. What if my student forgets something and I need to bring it to school?

A. While we hope that students come prepared each day, we have 3 light blue carts in front of the front office windows labeled by grade level. We have a table next to the carts stocked with tape, markers and paper for labeling items dropped off. Place the item on the cart of your students’ grade level. Unfortunately, we do not call students for forgotten items. The student may pick up items between classes or at lunch time from the cart.

Q. What if my student forgets his/her device?

A. Parents can drop the device at the front desk where we keep them until the student comes to get them. It is the students' responsibility to pick them up between classes or at lunch time. Unfortunately, we are unable to call into classrooms for forgotten items.

Q. What if my child gets sick at school?

A. If your student feels sick during the school day, he/she should always go to the clinic. The clinic needs to keep a record of students who are ill. Students SHOULD NOT call or text on their cell phones or smart watches for parents to pick them up.

Q. Is my child allowed to use their cell phone to call home?

A. Cell phones are not allowed to be used during school time. There is a phone in the front office if the student needs to call home. We encourage students to come prepared to school each day, thus the phone is for emergencies only.

Q. Where do I turn in student attendance notes?

A. If your student is out of school, there needs to be a parent or doctors note sent into the front office within 5 days of being absent.

You may email Jackie Dejo at

Attendance Policy / Attendance Matters (

Q. Do I need my ID when checking out my student?

A. Please be prepared to show your ID when checking out your student. This is for the safety of our students, faculty and staff.

Q. What if my students needs medication at school?

A. Students are not allowed to carry medications with them at school unless they have a permission form (SHS-2) signed and on file in the clinic. This includes prescription and over the counter medications of any kind. Questions please contact Clinic Assistant Stephanie Sorina

Q. What time is the school store open?

A. The school store is open from 8:15 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Q. What time are students allowed into the school in the morning?

A. The school opens at 8:00 a.m.

Q. Do I need to call the front office if my student is sick for the day?

A. You DO NOT need to call the front office if a student is out sick. Upon returning to school. send a note to the front office and the attendance will be adjusted.

Q. What if my child comes to school late?

A. Parents DO NOT need to bring children in if they are late. Students DO have to report to the office to get a pass to their classroom.

Q. Are students allowed to leave the building without checking out?

A. A parent MUST always come to the front office to check students out of school. This is for the safety of the student.

Note: 1. If someone else is checking your student out they must be on the Infinite Campus Parent Portal Contact list and have their ID.

2. You may also send a note in with your student with the first and last name of the person picking your child up.

Remember to always send a note with your student to the front desk the morning of the check-out. Please be prepared to show your ID.

Do you have questions about attendance?

Each school can enter 2 singles and 2 doubles teams for boys and 2 singles and 2 doubles teams for girls. Matches will follow the 6-game pro set format until the semi-finals, where an 8-game pro set will be played, and the finals will play a 10-game pro set. Scoring will be no add, using 15, 30, 40 and game. At 40-all (deuce) the receiver gets to choose the side to receive serve. The team will be based solely on student performance during tryouts.

You can drop them off in the front office or have your student bring them directly to the Media Center. As soon as this work is finished, students will set up their computers in Social Studies class. In the meantime, be sure to electronically sign the Device User Agreement on Infinite Campus. All student passwords were changed back to 8-digit birthdays over the summer, so be sure to use their birthday as the password (mmddyyyy) if a student wants to log in on a personal computer. Ivy Bridge Academy Debate Program

Ivy Bridge Academy's After-School Public Speaking & Debate program offers a chance for students to learn techniques of public speaking and engage with current events through the activity of debate.

Students enhance their research skills, critical thinking, organizational skills, persuasion tactics, and information processing by learning about both sides of an issue and being able to persuasively argue for either side.

Students who participate in our program will leave with a sense of accomplishment and a skill set that will help them in academics and their future careers. Direct tangible benefits from our program include increased confidence speaking in front of others, improved writing skills, greater vocabulary, better information-processing, and more open-minded critical thinking about some complex topics.
