Welcome to the 2019-20 School Year
What a great first week of school we had!
Thank you for helping with all the details of getting your child(ren) ready for this time of the year. If you didn't make it to the school for our Open House night to set up your child's lunch account, register for busing, meet the teacher or staff, or need anything else, please call or stop by. You can keep track of school information from our website and calendar (found on the website which can sync to a smart phone, if you choose) as well as utilizing the Powerschool app.
Please help me welcoming our 75 Kindergarten students, 30 new students in grades 1-5 and quite a few new staff members at BRMES this year. Our enrollment is currently 419 students.
We are committed to making this a great year!
Mrs. Berg, Principal
Arrival / Drop Off Information:
7:45-8:05: DROP OFF TIMES {Please drop students off after 7:45 AM. Students will be directed to the playground or cafeteria until 8:05.} Parents are welcome to stay with your child(ren) until the 8:05 bell.
8:05: 1st BELL & Classrooms Open
8:10: SCHOOL BEGINS BELL
8:15: TARDY BELL
ABSENCES: Please call {634-2219} or email (dgeibel@mdsd.org) if your child(ren) will be absent. Automated calls will go out to all unverified absences, shortly after attendance for the safety/accountability of all students.
DISMISSAL PROCESS:
Students are directed to go home the way the classroom teacher has on file, unless they have a note from the parent/or office for that day. If you need to send a message to your child with a change of dismissal plans; calls should be made to the school by 2:30 to give us enough time to deliver the message. It does count against your child's attendance if they are checked out before 3:00.
Here are the six dismissal options:
1. Buses: Students walk directly to buses to load at 3:00. Buses strive to leave BRMES campus quickly to load at PLMS at 3:05. Students need to be registered through Harlow's to ride the bus. We have registration forms at the school or you can contact Harlow's.
2. Woodlands Neighborhood: These students are dismissed to walk/bike home through the north doors at 3:00.
4. Pick Up Students: These students are dismissed out the front/main doors at 3:00. All students will be directed to the west side of the front doors to wait for their adult or vehicle from the grassy area. Students must stay back, away from the traffic. Two crosswalks/guards are available to safely cross students with his/her adult(s) once you are ready. If you choose to stay in your vehicle, in the loading zone, please do not leave your vehicle unattended and simply pull forward as soon as space allows. We load up to 6 cars at a time who are passed the crosswalks, on the curb side of vehicles from our new loading zone area.
5. PLMS/Fox Ridge Neighborhood/Walking/Biking Students: These students will be permitted to walk/bike towards PLMS as soon as they are ready as long as they give right away to the buses.
6. PLCA {After School Program} for registered students, in the cafeteria.
Safety is our number one priority! We ask for your patience and heightened awareness (and no cell phones) during arrival and dismissal times.

This is our one and only fundraiser for Barbara Morgan students all year! Students will be coming home with a pledge sheet/directions this week. You simply ask a few family or friends if they will 'sponsor' your child. Each student then participates for 30 minutes on the track during the Sept. 20th Tortoise & the Hare event to fullfill their pledge. {ie. Grandma will donate/pledge $1.00 per lap or just give $5.00 total for doing it.} Sponsors can turn in money to your child right away if they just give a flat fee or they can pay once they know how many laps your child completes during the event. Checks are to be written to BRMES PTA. All money and pledge sheets will be due to classroom teachers/school office no later than Tuesday, October 1st.
