Mott News

From the Principal
Dear Mott Elementary Parents/Guardians,
If you have not received an email or phone call from the school, your child has not been selected for on-campus learning at this time. I know this may be disappointing, but we are only operating at 25% functional capacity and our campus had 40% of our students choose on-campus learning.
Some teachers will be teaching in person while others will be teaching virtually. As a result, teacher changes were necessary for some students. If your child changed teachers, you should have received an email on Friday. Please know that we value teacher/student relationships and will work to minimize teacher changes as much as possible.
The district will be reassessing the conditions after two weeks of in-person learning to determine if we maintain, increase, or decrease the number of students allowed for in-person learning. At that time, if you chose in-person learning by August 6, you may be eligible should any additional students be allowed. If we are able to add your child to our campus for on-campus learning at a later date, we will notify you as soon as possible.
Please go to the district Return to Learn website to access more detailed information. Once on the website, click the link to the Phase-In Plan.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and support during this transition. Please continue to be patient, understanding and supportive as more transitions are inevitable!
Sincerely,
Tammy Rebecek
Principal
Mott Elementary School

A Message from Nurse Cat
Parents,
If your child is returning to on-campus learning and has medical conditions which will require medication to be administered on campus, please note the following to-do’s and updates:
- Unless accompanied by a prescription from the physician, we will not currently be able to accept over the counter medications that are “as needed,” such as Tylenol or ibuprofen for headaches. This is to prevent unnecessary exposure to children who may be sick.
- We will not be able to do nebulizer treatments at school at this time, due to the aerosolization of respiratory particles. If your student has asthma and will need medication at school, please ask your doctor for an inhaler for your child. As a reminder, we are never allowed to accept “naked inhalers.” We must have the pre-printed prescription label from the pharmacy with every inhaler, either on the box or affixed to the inhaler itself. For inhalers we request a spacer be provided for administration. If you have questions please email Nurse Cat.
- Medications kept in the clinic have paperwork that needs to go with them: You can find all these forms Here:
- Asthma: Asthma action plan from the doctor, medication administration form, consent to release medical information.
- Seizures: Seizure action plan from the doctor, seizure questionnaire, medication administration form, consent to release medical information.
- Allergies: Allergy action plan from the doctor, allergy questionnaire, medication administration form, consent to release medical information. If it is a food allergy, then a Special Meals Request form is also required if the student will eat cafeteria food.
- Other medications: medication administration form, consent to release medical information
If you have any questions, or if your child has special medical needs that will need to be addressed, please email Nurse Cat at Caitrina.drago@pfisd.net
