Principal's Message - A Change is Coming
I want begin this week's newsletter with genuine appreciation to you all for the tremendous effort you have put forward during distance learning. Many students have excelled in this model of learning. For others, the lack of in-person instruction has proven challenging.
After much consideration and discussion, the Pollock Pines Elementary School District is prepared to shift our schooling to a hybrid model beginning October 5th. If you have yet to do so, please take the time to read the attached hybrid parent letter sent out by our Superintendent, Pat Atkins last night. As he explains in this letter, more details will be provided to you next week so that you have adequate time to prepare for this shift.
Currently, many of our families have signed up for distance learning for the entire school year. If you are on this track please confirm with your teacher your intentions to either stay or exit the distance learning model. In addition, if your family originally intended to return to in- person instruction but now you feel that the year long distance learning program is a more appropriate fit for your child, please call the school office in the coming week so that we may accommodate your request.
The next two weeks will be devoted to solidifying our plans to safely welcome your child on campus. I thank you advance for your support as we pivot our instruction.
Meet Mr. Summerhays
This past week, we welcomed a new Maintenance and Operations member to Pinewood. Mr. Aaron Summerhays came to us to fill a vacancy left by Mr. Scott who now is assuming a district lead position. Mr. Summerhays joins our team with many years of M&O experience. In his spare time Aaron enjoys running, hiking local trails and spending time with his family.
Happy Retirement Cathy Fritzler!
After 20 years of working in our school cafeteria, Mrs. Cathy Fritzler has retired from our district. She will be greatly missed! Brenda Carrasco will be moving into her vacated position. With Brenda's years of experience, this is a great fit. We are also excited to announce, Nancy Campora, a longtime school volunteer and food services substitute has been hired to complete our Falcon Cafe team. Welcome Mrs. Campora.
Updated Shot Record Required
Currently we have a handful of Kindergarten students without updated immunization records. Please note without this documentation, students will not be permitted to attend our in-person hybrid instruction. Please submit these records as soon as possible so that your child doesn't miss our first days back on campus.
