RISD Elementary Parent Newsletter
Week of 2/11/19
Message from Julie
Dear RISD Elementary Parents,
Mark your calendars! Are you concerned about Social Media, Screen Time, and modern communication? We are! :)
Friends of Rivendell is sponsoring Cindy Pierce to come on 2/26 at 6:00PM. She is an expert in this field and going to come with tips for parents of all age students. We are very excited for this opportunity!
We are seeing an uptick in bus issues and the drivers are stating that lots of the trouble is coming from technology brought on the bus. We have also seen issues at SME with students bringing their cell phones to school and being "distracted" by them. Can we work together to have students leave them home? Thank you!
We have our first annual RISD Elementary Winter Carnival on Friday at SME from 11-230. Parents are more than welcome to join us for our festivities!
We are excited for our upcoming break! I am flying out west and won't be available during vacation week. If you need anything, I will be back on email the following weekend.
This is our last week of Winter Program! Though mother nature hasn't exactly been totally on our side, we have really enjoyed these alternative learning experiences and are so appreciative to everyone who made it happen! We will be looking to make a few changes for next year - and if you would like to participate in helping, please let me know.
It looks like yet ANOTHER winter storm this week - can we all think spring??
Have a wonderful week and a fantastic break!
Each time a student or class demonstrates one of these characteristics, they receive a rock.
How does reading help?
What's New for the 2018-2019 School Year
We will be focusing on consistency between the two schools. A copy of the handbook will be sent home, but you can also access it online.
