A Message from Dr. Manola
Good afternoon, and happy Friday! Along with that, happy November. As we head into the start of a new month, with a beautiful weekend on the horizon, we are excited to join you once again to share this week’s East Leyden Parent Bulletin. We hope that everyone continues to stay healthy and well and that you are able to enjoy being outside this weekend.
Today, I wanted to share a brief message of gratitude and support. At Leyden, we believe in the idea that kindness matters, and now, more than ever, kindness and gratitude are so important. There are so many things happening around our communities, towns, state, and country, much of which is outside of our control. However, despite that, we can focus on something that we always have control over; gratitude.
Gratitude, and sharing your appreciation, can go a long way. That might mean giving yourself a break. It could look like holding a door for someone. Perhaps it looks like telling someone who is important to you how much they mean. Whatever gratitude looks like to you, my challenge for you is this; in the next couple of days, take a few minutes to practice gratitude. Write a note to someone to tell them how great they are. Reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in a long time. Tell someone you appreciate them.
There are countless studies that show some of the happiest individuals around don’t necessarily have a lot of ‘things,’ but instead, practice gratitude. It’s not happiness that makes you grateful, but gratefulness that makes you happy.
At Leyden, we are beyond grateful. We are grateful to you, for our students, and for our staff. We are grateful for our community and the incredible support of our families.
We know that as times continue to be uncertain and difficult, it is extremely difficult for everyone. Today, as we continue to navigate everything, please know how grateful we are for you and the partnership we have with our families.
Best,
Dr. Dominic Manola, Principal
