FALL COLLEGE VISITS TO NSHS
Every year colleges and university admissions officers visit NSHS. Very often these are the same admissions officers reading our students applications for admission. We highly encourage juniors and seniors to meet with these representatives. This is one way to "demonstrate interest" in a college and many colleges now track this in the application process.
We have 60+ schools visiting us this fall including many that have never been to NSHS before.
A calendar of student visits is accessible in Google Classroom and we will send out weekly reminders to all students.
Before registering for a college visit, consider the following:
1. Sign up only for colleges you will probably apply to or have interest in.
2. Be on time
3. Ask GOOD questions
4. Dress nicely.
Students must register via the link provided in Google Classroom.

New England Board of Higher Education Tuition Break
The New England Board of Higher Education Regional Student Program offers discounted tuition to New England Residents for a select group of majors.
In most cases, the regional tuition covers all four years of the program. For some majors, however, the regional tuition does not take effect until later in the program. When tuition is reduced from out-of-state to regional, merit scholarships are reduced to the corresponding regional scholarship amount.

Naviance-Individualized Learning Plan (ILP)
NSHS and NSMS will begin using Naviance as the Individualized Learning Plan (ILP) in the 2019-2020 academic year. The Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is a student-directed planning and monitoring tool that customizes learning opportunities throughout students' secondary school experience, broadens their perspectives, and supports attainment of goals. The ILP documents students’ interests, needs, supports, course selections (including access to college-level programming), transition placements and other learning experiences both in and out of school. This information produces a thoughtful program of study leading to proficiency for graduation and postsecondary experiences.
The ILP is more than a repository of information about a student; it is a dynamic tool that maps academic plans, and reflects each student’s unique set of interests, needs, learning goals and graduation requirements. The ILP process engages all students in a way that advances goal-setting, decision-making, and self-advocacy skills that support their lifelong learning.
More information on Naviance will be sent home periodically throughout the year.

Good luck with your scholarship applications!
Mr. Pepin
