FRIDAYS: 9:00 - 3:00

New Materials Pickup: It's hard to believe that it's been two weeks since the start of school. Teachers have the next round of instructional materials ready to be picked up. Staff members will be available on Friday's from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to distribute the next few week's worth of materials.

We understand that from time to time you might not be able to stop by during those times. Please contact the front office or your classroom teacher if this is the case. We are happy to make alternate arrangements for times that may work better for your schedule.

Drop Off: You've been working hard all week and have a bunch of paperwork to turn in. Teachers and T.A.'s are looking forward to getting your assignments graded so they can provide feedback on your progress thus far. Staff will be out on Fridays to personally collect your work.

Please be sure to place only your completed assignments in the manila envelope with your name and grade on it. Keep any unassigned packet materials/worksheets for use next week.

Whether you are new to Eagle Academy or a returning family, have one student or multiple students at our school, sharing the responsibility of educating your child at home in the age of COVID can be a little bit overwhelming.

Whether your student(s) are doing the work at the kitchen table or bringing it back and forth from your office or the sitters, it all needs to be dealt with and organized.

Using milk creates for file storage is an easy way to organize schoolwork, transport materials, and stash out of the way when not in use.

  • Milk creates (1 per student)
  • Pack of hanging file folders (1 per student)

The materials for each subject go into a file folder. You can also add folders for, work completed, work to be reviewed/checked, and work to be submitted to Mr./Mrs. _______. Textbooks, readers, and pencil/school supply pouches also fit nicely for transport.

Below are photo examples (some from our very own EACS families).

Is this still on your "To Do" list?

If you have not already done so, please e-mail our front office Administrative Assistant: Tamara Gagnon (gagnon_tamara@asdk12.org) your current proof of residency.

This is an annual requirement for all families (returning and new to EACS). What qualifies as proof of residence?

  • Gas (showing name and service location)
  • Electric (showing name and service location)
  • Water (showing name and service location)

If you don't have one of these handy, please call Tamara at (907) 742-3025 between 7:30 am and 3:30 p.m. She has more specific information about acceptable alternate options.

Required if you are new to Eagle Academy

Eagle Academy is sponsoring “Spalding Night” Zoom trainings. We will discuss Spalding and the use of the phonogram cards and techniques to help study spelling words. Families new to Eagle Academy are required to attend the training to help support your child/ren at home. It is also open to returning families that need a refresher.

Please bring your phonogram cards to the Zoom. This is an interactive class so I will need your video turned on. Due to the interactive/participatory nature of these sessions, the sessions will not be recorded for viewing at a later date. Phonogram cards need to be purchased for the training for $15 / first set, $15 for additional sets of cards***. The following classes are available to choose from:

  • Wed., Sept. 9 @ 6:00 PM
  • Mon. Sept. 14 @ 6:00 PM

Please email Mrs. Timberlake at timberlake_melissa@asdk12.org to sign up for one of the sessions. She will reply to you with a Zoom link and passcode. You can also direct any questions to Mrs. Timberlake via e-mail or by phone: 742-3025

Cohort A & Cohort B

The 14-day rolling average for Anchorage Municipality continues to fluctuate but has been trending down over the past week.

When ASD determines that we can move to Medium-High Risk Cohort instruction, Cohort A will attend in-person instruction at school on Monday and Tuesday, everyone will be learning at home on Wednesdays, and Cohort B will attend in-person instruction on Thursday and Fridays.

In preparation for someday returning to In-Person instruction, we are beginning the process of analyzing our enrollment data. In order to create two cohorts relatively equal in size for all grade levels, we may have to veer from the traditional A-M and N-Z alphabet split.

Our main priority will be to keep students from the same family in the same cohort.

Please email Principal Carroll at carroll_deanne@asdk12.org if you:

  1. Would like to request to be in a particular cohort, with a particular student, due to carpooling considerations.
  2. If you plan to continue with EACS Online at home (Monday-Friday) instead of sending your student to in-person instruction.

Please include the first and last names, as well as the grade level of each student involved in your request. We will do our best to honor requests however, we hope that you will understand if we are unable to do so.

This Spalding Phonograms app is designed for helping students learn the phonics connection between speech sounds and written symbols that represent those sounds (phonograms).

Learning the phonograms is essential for accurate and automatic reading, writing, and spelling. Teaching all the sounds of the phonemes represented by an alphabet letter or combination of two, three, or four letters (phonograms) enables students to read, spell, and write high-frequency words quickly. Students who learn the phonograms well expand their vocabulary and are able to use effective and creative communication skills in writing.
