GO PANTHERS!
THIS Thursday, May 28th- Final Work Pick-up Day!
BUT, that is not all! We are asking that you bring your child(ren) for a special surprise that day from your teachers! We have put together a schedule of times when each grade level or teacher will be at school. If it works in your family's schedule to come to pick up during that time, please do! If not, that is okay. You can still come pick up any time from 11 am- 7 pm that day.
Here are a few important details:
- Please bring your child(ren) with you! They have to stay in the car but the surprise is for them!
- Try to come during your child's grade level time but if you can't, that's okay! Come when is most convenient to you!
- If you have more than one child, feel free to come as many times as you'd like and just drive through so they can see the surprise, too! Just let SRO DuBois know you are just driving through when you arrive!
- We will be handing out school work through the end of the school year AND all of your child's belongings from their cubbies and desks.
The time slots for when grade level specific teachers will be there is:
11:00-12:00: Kindergarten
12:00-1:00: 1st Grade
1:00-2:00: PreK
2:00-3:00: 2nd Grade and Special Classes (Mrs. Lyons, Mrs. Verbanic, Mr. Smith)
3:00-4:00: 3rd Grade
4:00-5:00: 4th Grade
5:00-6:00: 5th Grade
6:00-7:00: 6th Grade
Please note that Mrs. Presher will be there all day and would love to see all of your faces as she will be retiring this year!
*Please note that 6th Graders will have other times to clean out their lockers. More information in this smore.
6th Grade Locker Cleanup
We will ask parents to enter through the main office doors and then they will be able to go upstairs to empty their locker. Its okay if they forgot their locker combination as we will have the key to the locker available also.
Students must take all personal belongings and then set school materials (books, etc) on a table in the hallway. There will be garbage cans to put trash also.
*Please note that masks must be worn at all times once entering the school building.
iReady Diagnostic- We need your help!
Why do our kids need to take this assessment?
This will help us to prepare for the Fall (whatever that may bring) and begin planning for supports that will ensure all of your children are successful!
When should they take it?
Students should take the assessment when their teachers direct them to. Please stay in contact with their teachers on Google Classroom or Seesaw for more information.
What happens with their score?
Students do get a growth score but they do not get a grade for iReady. Instead, the program provides the teachers and school with information regarding the concepts that your child knows and can do well as well as the concepts they do not know and will need further instruction on in the future. This will be monumental in understanding how your child progressed this school year as well as in planning for 2020-2021!
What does the test look like?
Students will log into iReady just as they have been doing on their ipad or laptop during the closure. They will begin the diagnostic. It will look very similar to what they see when they go onto iReady to complete the lessons. Your child has done this two times earlier in the year so they know what to expect! Also, the assessment adjusts in difficult as they child continues through the work. If they get a question correct, it increases in difficulty. If they get a question wrong, it decreases in difficulty. It uses this to determine their exact performance ability in both ELA and Math.
Here are some very important tips for giving the diagnostic:
- Encourage your child to try their best and take their time. If they rush, their scores will be flagged and they won't accurately represent what your child can do!
- Provide your child with a quiet and non-distracting location to take the diagnostic. For a lack of a better word, these are tests. Although they won't provide your child with a grade, they help us to better understand what they know and what they don't know so we can plan for the Fall.
- Students must take this INDEPENDENTLY. Please do not help them with the answers.
- If your child becomes frustrated, just remind them to do their best. If they have tried and absolutely do not know the answer, tell them to move on. Don't let them get stuck on one problem for too long!
Most importantly, if you are struggling or need help, please contact your child's teacher. They can guide you and support you through giving the diagnostic to your child(ren)!
Below are some PowerPoint Presentations that you can use when speaking with your child in preparation to begin their diagnostic at home!

Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Sears
Hi Panther family!
We are coming closer to the end of the 2019-2020 school year. Over these last few months, we have gone through many ups and downs. I would like to share with you a poster that I have in my office at the school. I love this poster called, "Which step have you reached today?" I love it for many reasons. I can use it for all ages even adults. I can ask the simple question at the bottom and the person I am working with in that moment is able to simple choose their starting step. From there, the conversation can build to start to problem solve what they are going through at that time. I share this with you because it is something that you can use to help get our children through these last few weeks of school. These steps are great to have to be able to have calm conversations about how your child is feeling and/or behaving related to their experiences. You can use it to show them what they have already accomplished while at home. This is a great way to build your child's mindset in regards to how to handle the experiences they go through good or bad. You can recreate it as a family too.
