Claudia Gutierrez
3rd Grade Dual Language Teacher
Personally:
I'm a small town girl from Palmer. I have been married for almost 15 years and have 3 beautiful daughters. Two of my girls will be joining me at Wedgeworth in kinder and 5th grade, and my oldest is a sophomore in high school.
College and Educational Background:
I graduated from UT Arlington with a B.S. in Information Systems in 2003. In 2007, I decided to change careers. I just knew I was meant to teach. I spent a year as a bilingual aide in Cedar Hill, and was then hired on as a 1st grade dual language teacher after completing my alternative certification program in 2008. I remained in that position until transferring to Ferris ISD in 2012. I taught 4th grade for a year, and 2nd grade for the past 4 years, and am excited to be joining the 3rd grade team. I recently began pursuing my Master of Education in Educational Technology Leadership at Lamar University.
Hobbies and Favorite Things to Do:
I love to craft! I enjoy doing anything that allows me to be creative. I love to read, mostly educational books right now. I get excited to learn new things I can use in my classroom and love attending EdCamps.
What I'm bringing to the Wedgeworth Team:
I love to learn from others, and love to share ideas and collaborate whenever possible. I have tons of ideas on how to integrate technology into the classroom that I would love to share. I am a huge fan of the app Seesaw, which is a great way to increase student engagement and parent involvement. I am ready to help making learning fun for all of our kids, and look forward to being part of an amazing team.
