The Hall Way...

Third quarter is moving along and now would be a good time to check in with your student about their progress in their classes. Are they completing all of their assigned work? Is their work organized or is it time to clean out their binder or folders? Do they need to ask any of their teachers for extra help? Please encourage them to BE HONEST with themselves on their progress so they can finish the quarter strong.

6th Grade News

The 6th grade team is encouraging our students to start taking ownership for their education. It is hard to believe they will be 7th graders in a few short months, and we want to make sure they are prepared for next year. This includes having them email their teachers if they have questions or concerns, checking their grades in Home Access daily for missing assignments, and emailing their teachers if they are absent to see what they need to do from missing school. Please help us in supporting these behaviors at home, and encouraging your student(s) to do the above.

8th Grade

8th grade students from Mr. Wilson's dual-language literacy class wrote books on leaders who fought for human rights. Students investigated the leaders' influences and actions, and then explained how we might continue on with the legacy of the person. On Thursday, the students shared their books with 3rd graders from Ms. Gomberg's class at Mary Endres. Coming soon these students' booklets will also be on display at the Woodstock Public Library. Make sure to congratulate our authors on their hard work ¡Muy bien hecho!

Wrestling Brings Home the Fox Valley Junior High Conference Championship.

For the first time in 16 years, Northwood won the Fox Valley Junior High Conference Championship. With only 10 scoring wrestlers Northwood was able to bring the title home. Northwood had 5 tournament champions that included Braelan, Cordaro, Landan, Parker, and Kaden. Hunter and Kevin finished 2nd, and Joey finished 3rd. Connor finished 4th and Nathan finished 6th. Incredible accomplishment boys!

Helping Paws Woodstock, IL Animal Shelter has launched Rescue Readers Reading Program that lets kids age 6 and up become a hero as they read to shy dogs and cats to make them more comfortable around humans. All Rescue Readers must attend a training session with their parent or guardian. A parent or guardian also must be present as the child reads to the animals.
