Excessive Tardies

Interrupt instruction for all
Learn unprofessional / negative behaviors – arriving late is insensitive to others.

DSES Families,
Thank you for joining us for the Monster Mash Dance and Technology Isn't Scary last Friday evening. It was such a fun time for everyone involved! Students loved the dance, fun & excitement, and being able to share with their parents some of the different technology they use in school.
Our school was fortunate enough to purchase a set of Google Expeditions which we are very excited about. Students will be able to use these devices at school to go on virtual field trips to many different places - even underwater or outer space. Expeditions will be previewing soon in classes. So...if you child comes home and says they went to Mount Everest - they might just have - virtually!
Parent University-November 2017
The Services for Exceptional Children department is hosting a Parent University on November 4, 2017, from 8:00 am – 12:00 pm at Centennial High School in Roswell, GA. The goal of the Parent University is to allow parents of students with disabilities to meet SEC department leaders, to learn ways to support their children at home, and to establish connections with other parents. Coordinated by SEC department staff and two Parent Mentors, the day will include workshops on topics of interest to parents. Please join us!
School Bus Service
Hello,
My name is Amanda Thomas and I am the Transportation Supervisor for the schools in the North Springs Cluster. I want to extend an apology to you all for the late buses and let you know, we are working diligently towards a suitable solution. Until then, please continue to be patient with us. If you have not been receiving notifications, but need to, please send the following information to ThomasAJ@fultoschools.org:
Name, Bus Number, and method of contact (email or phone number to receive text messages).
Lastly, if you know someone with a great driving record in need of employment, please refer them to fultonschools.org/careers and tell them to apply for the School Bus Driver Position.
Parent Survey - Please Participate
Every year, the state rates schools based on several data points. One of these data points is a survey that all staff, students, and parents complete about our school. You may complete the survey using your personal computer, smartphone or tablet. If you do not have access to the Internet, you are welcome to take the survey at DSES. We encourage all parents to take the survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. No parent participation or low parent participation will negatively impact our school's School Climate Star Rating from the state. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis. Results from the survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online. We greatly appreciate your time and effort!
CLICK FOR THE GEORGIA PARENT SURVEY LINK: http://gshs.gadoe.org/parents
Students in grades 3, 4, and 5 take their portion of the survey at school and it is called the Georgia Student Health Survey 2.0. Federal law requires that the student survey questions be made available for review by all interested parties. Parents can opt out of the survey for their student. If you do not want your child to take the survey, please send a hand written and signed note to your child's teacher by Friday, November 3, 2017. If you do not respond by this date, we will assume that your child can take the survey. All 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students will take the survey at some point between November 6th- November 17th
Thank You Sandy Springs Rotary Club
Please join us in thanking the Sandy Springs Rotarians for visiting and bringing gifts to our 4th and 5th grade students. Every 5th grader received their very own thesaurus and learned about the Rotary 4-Way test. Each 4th grade student received a “vocabulary builder” to support their understanding of word origins and meanings. Both resources will support our emphasis on writing this year. The Rotarians provide learning materials for our students every year. We appreciate their support of education. If you happen to know or see a Sandy Springs Rotarian, please thank them for their support of our school.
Hurricane Irma Make Up Day
Fulton County has released the Hurricane Irma make-up day. Due to the Governor’s State of Emergency Declaration, two of the three days off will be waived, with only one day required to be made up. Friday, February 16th (which was originally scheduled as a student/teacher day off) will be a regular school day.
