On the TRAIL - for Mustang Families
August 7, 2020
We are MT - kicking off this year MUSTANG STRONG!
In preparation for the start of the 2020-2021 school year
I hope this message finds you and your family healthy and safe.
As we get ready to begin the year in distance learning, I know there are lots of questions out there. So, On the Trail is back! This weekly newsletter begins today as a main means of communication for each week.
I am hopeful you have been getting my other emails already welcoming you to the school year through Parentvue and Studentvue. And, I know that there will still be some emails that go out (or too many) but I will use this newsletter as the way to give you the highlights for the week and then email any urgent items that can't wait for the next newsletter.
In addition, while I don't want the newsletter to become too long to read, if you feel something is missing, reach out with a suggestion and I will see if it can be included for future newsletters.
And as always, know that we are here partnering with you to do what is best for all of our students and community as we embark on the 2020-2021 school year.
Go Mustangs!
Stay safe and healthy,
Lara Ricks
Principal

Student Tentative Schedules Available Now in StudentVue
Course offerings and student schedules have been created with consideration to students’ course selection and requirements for graduation and/or four-year college eligibility. Schedule changes will be limited as classes are at capacity in most cases. This is the only opportunity for a schedule change request for the entire 2020-2021 school year. We will be holding strict to the guidelines for schedule changes and only the requests that meet these requirements will be honored.
Reasons for a schedule change request:
- Your schedule is incomplete with at least one missing period.
- A required class for graduation is missing.
- The class has already been taken and passed for credit.
- Would like to add an AP/Honors class, if space is available.
The following requests WILL NOT be considered:
- I want a different period.
- I want a different teacher.
- I do not want the elective class that I was placed into.
- I want to be a TA, AVID Tutor, or Lab Specialist (these courses are not offered during Distance Learning).
To request to add or change a course, complete the form as soon as possible - DEADLINE TO SUBMIT REQUEST AUGUST 10, 2020 (end of the day).

Welcoming the Class of 2024
Greetings Mustangs! Today we tried something new...we held a virtual Link Crew Freshman Orientation on ZOOM! We had about 100 leaders and approximately 450 freshmen attend! We held 4 Zoom sessions led by our Link Crew advisors and leaders and overall it was a success. Of course we fumbled around with tech and sound issues and there was one incident that we are taking care of and learning from to train our staff and students to ensure the best safety protocols in this new environment. The freshmen did a great job overall and our leaders showed up big time for our Mustang COMMUNITY.
Lesson learned-there may be challenges, but we can get through it together, learn from each situation and continue to improve while still providing the all important communication and connection our students deserve.
Thank you to our Link Crew team: Ms. Gallagher, Ms. Antonopoulos, Ms. El-Atrache, Mr. Ramirez, and Ms. Wong for stepping up and leading the way. Thank you for helping ensure our newest Mustangs are connected, engaged and ready to get back to school.
