Stephen Decatur Middle School

March 2019

Principal Message:

We are quickly moving into testing season at Stephen Decatur Middle School. March 13 begins our state science assessment - MISA and April 10 is the start of MCAP our state assessment for reading and math. Student attendance and participation are very important. All students are required to participate in these assessments. We want students to do their best because the results are important data points we consider as we move forward with scheduling students for next year.

If you did not see our Annual Drama Production last week, you missed some amazing student talent. Thank you Mrs. Comeaux for the many hours you spent preparing these students for two truly entertaining evenings that highlighted their hard work and many talents.

Big picture
Our Science Olympiads are headed for the state competition. This group of After-School Academy students recently competed locally and qualified for the next level. Every single student qualified! Thank you Ms. Zienty and Ms. Sangwan for your hard work with these dedicated young people.

Mr. Mundrick has been hard at work with our musically talented students. They have just recently competed in the lower shore band and orchestra festivals. Many are moving on to compete at the state level competition later next month.
Students from our National Junior Honor Society recently spent a day at the Maryland Food Bank assisting the staff with sorting and stocking their shelves. their work and service to our community was appreciated.
