Biography
On October 13, 1962 Jerry Lee Rice was born in Starkville, Mississippi. Rice was one of eight children. Jerry went to Mississippi Valley State University where he played football. While in college Rice broke 18 I-AA Division records and earned All-American status. His contributes to American society was hard work and dedication.

After four years at Mississippi Valley State University he totaled in 4,692 receiving yards and setting 18 I-AA Division records. Rice drafted in the 16th round of the 1985 draft by the San Fransisco 49ers. His rookie year was a rough start, but in his second season with the 49ers Rice caught 15 touchdown passes on 86 catches and had 1,570 receiving yards. This was the start of only great things to come for Rice and the 49ers. Rice is known as the best receiver of all time in the NFL. In 2004 when Rice retired, he retired with 38 records to his name and was named to the All decades team of the 1980s and 1990s. His hard work and dedication contributed to American society and is a role model for young African-American males.
