LSHS National Merit Commended Students
Lakeville South is proud to announce that the following students have been named Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of
more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a spokesperson for NMSC.

Future 101
Lakeville area families will have the opportunity to hear from several experts as their student begins exploring post high school options. Future 101 is a FREE virtual conference for parents, guardians, and students at the high school level. Subject matter experts, including: high school deans, 2 and 4 year college, military, skilled trade and financial planning professionals will help you navigate and prepare for life after high school. This event is co-sponsored by the District and Lakeville Area Chamber of Commerce. For details and registration, go to the Chamber's website (click for link).

New Dean to Start October 5th
Kristin comes to us from South St. Paul where she has spent the past 17 years in education. She began her career in education as a Social Studies teacher in La Crescent, MN before moving to So. St. Paul where she spent 14 years as a teacher and girls basketball coach. While at So. St. Paul, she also spent 2 ½ years as the Digital Learning Specialist supporting teams and teachers districtwide in developing their capacity to integrate digital learning into instruction to personalize student learning and increase learner agency in the District and most recently was an Assistant Principal at the Secondary Building. Kristin earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Science Education with a minor in Psychology, as well as her Masters in Educational Leadership from St. Mary’s University. She went on to earn her Educational Specialist degree in K-12 Administration from Minnesota State-Mankato. Kristin has two children, Kendall (9) and Brady (6). Her husband Ben is also in education and currently teaching at Simley High School in Inver Grove. She is very excited to join the team at Lakeville South and looks forward to supporting the students, staff and community as we work together to ensure a high quality educational experience for all.
iPad Keyboards are IN!
The new iPad cases have arrived. Students will make the iPad case switch during their 4th hours next week, September 28 - October 2nd. Students MUST have their iPads with them in order to swap out the cases.
The process to swap cases will be as follows:
Group A/B/Hybrid Students: New iPad cases will be distributed to 4th hour classes. Students will carefully replace the cases and put the old cases in, or on, the boxes outside the classroom.
Distance Learners: Can come to LSHS Media Center with their iPad to replace the case. These times will be M,T,Th,F from 2:40-3:30 and Wednesday from 7:00-3:30pm.
Any other students who need cases should stop in to the LSHS Media Center during school hours: 7:45-3:30 or by special arrangement.

AP Exam Information
This message is for all parents/guardians of students taking a first semester or full year AP® course or any student intending to take an AP® exam in the spring without taking a course. (Please disregard if this does not apply to you.)

Distant learners that need a textbook will now need to go to the Media Center instead of pick up at the front desk.

Student Support Request Form
If students or parents are wanting to connect with a member of the SOS team to use the below link to request a meeting. A member of the SOS team will contact the student or parent. The form can be saved to the home screen of the iPad or phone. QR codes can be hung in the classrooms and are up around the school.

Need Help with the Portal?
If a student is not able to access their Student Portal please have them email Heather Allen at heather.allen@isd194.org and she will work with them to get that fixed.
If a parent is not able to access their Parent Portal please have them email Heather Allen at heather.allen@isd194.org and let her know if they are new to the district and this is an initial set-up or if they need to reset their portal because they are not able to get in this year.
Connect Your iPad to a Wi-Fi network
Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, then turn on Wi-Fi.
Tap on Wifi on the left side of the screen
Toggle on and select one of the following:
A network (your network name should appear): Enter the password, if required.
Other: Joins a hidden network. Enter the name of the hidden network, security type, and password.
If appears at the top of the screen, your iPad is connected to a Wi-Fi network. (To verify this, open Safari to view a webpage.)Your iPad reconnects when you return to the same location.
