The principle goal of education is to create men and women who are capable of doing new things, not simply repeating what other generations have done. ~Jean Piaget
THE LEARNING PLATFORM
Intentional lesson designs, formative assessments, the integration of technology and personal learning plans are four key factors to move teachers towards a student centered classroom. A willingness to try and fail with new approaches is important. Blogs, Prezi's, Socrative, iTunesU, ebooks, facebook, twitter, etc., the possibilities are endless! Students should question information, search for answers and create their own future.
If we teach today, as we taught yesterday, we rob our children of tomorrow. ~John Dewey
Teachers need to be armed with tools to feel safe to communicate within their PLC's, build strength in their implementation of technology in the classroom and understand data that increases the success of student groups. One must be an active listener, and willing to reflect and accept change. PLC's and PLN's are happening constantly and are a necessity for personal, group and student growth. A positive attitude, deliberate examination, active reflection, intentional actions and engaging in best practices as an educator will lead the GCISD student towards future success.
