From Mr. Lucita

How about another great weekend for the Jaguar Band!! We have a few celebrations to acknowledge as we start this newsletter:

After last weekend's great showing of almost 50 students for Solo and Ensemble at the Hays HS location we had a few students that had scheduling conflicts and needed to attend Solo & Ensemble this weekend. On Saturday, February 8th, we had students performing in UIL Solo & Ensemble contest at Bowie HS and Bastrop HS. At both of these locations, our students earned Superior and Excellent ratings in their perspective events!! Way to represent our Jaguar Band!!!

Also on Saturday, our Winter Guard had another incredible performance in the TCGC Contest at Georgetown HS. It is important to note that last week's Winter Guards performance saw them competing in the Scholastic Regional A Division of TCGC. The guard scored so high in that division that they were bumped up a level and placed into the Scholastic AA Division. The performance in this new division at Georgetown was a challenge that the Jaguar Winter Guard gladly accepted and ended up placing 1st in this new division! What a way to rise to the challenge of competing against even stronger competition and more established programs!

This week we are preparing for several events that will be coming up within the next few weeks. On February 26th our Johnson Percussion will be performing at halftime of the PTA Fundraiser with the Harlem Wizards. Tickets are going fast so make sure to get yours soon! https://harlemwizards.thundertix.com/orders/new?performance_id=2471211&fbclid=IwAR2DLjAacfpLNU2dszXKDZ9j1uOV0xBYG2tNPa9roVO1Rq-ugRJDjDecu_E

Also, coming soon, the Johnson HS Athletic Program’s “Meet the Jags” event will be held at JHS this Wednesday, February 12 at 6:00 PM. Although the Jag Band will not be participating due to the TMEA convention in San Antonio, we are sure this is going to be an exciting event for everyone!

Also quickly approaching is the TCGC Contest that the Jaguar Band is hosting on February 29th, please be on the lookout for more invitations to get involved by donating items or by volunteering to work a shift at the event!! We need everyone involved in some way to ensure that this is an extremely successful event!

Last but not Least!!!! The Jaguar Bands Spring Trip registration is closing permanently this coming Friday, Feb. 14!!! If you or your child wants to attend this trip now is the last chance!! We would love to have even more people attend and if there are any parents willing to travel and volunteer there as chaperones we would welcome the help! This link will take you to your secured online portal to register and make your deposit.

In conclusion please make sure that everyone looks at the Jaguar Bands calendar for all bands sectionals, rehearsals, percussion camps, guard rehearsals, and upcoming performances!!!

Syncing your online (mobile device or computer) calendar to Charms means any changes made to practices, games, events, etc., will automatically be updated in your calendar. While you might see some things that do not apply to your student, having too much information may be better than not having enough!
