New Parrot Disco Drone
In the picture below, Landon is preparing to throw a Parrot Disco. The Parrot Disco is a fixed-wing drone that has many purposes. Fixed-wing drones are used for emergency things like search and rescue and disaster relief. For instance, if there was a tornado that ripped through a town, you could send up a fixed-wing drone to assess the damage and even look for other people. They are also used for surveying land, like farms and other large areas, and for patrolling borders, like the Mexican-American border.

Fun on Wheels
Several Godley High School students competed in a charity wheelchair basketball game to raise money and awareness for people with disabilities who participate in sports on Tuesday.
As part of an elective course seniors could take for the first time this year, GHS senior Meritt McKittrick said she wanted to create the event to not only get the community involved but also help those who have physical disabilities and want to compete in sports. GMS Fellowship of Christian Athletes
FCA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, was brought to Godley Middle School this year all because of the students. Seventh grader Kaelyn Godfrey approached Mrs. Kristin Armstrong and said, “I hear that you love Jesus and you aren’t afraid to talk about it.” That was all it took! After the approval from the school and the FCA Organization, the Middle School Huddle was formed. At the beginning in November they averaged about 20 to 30 7th and 8th graders meeting every Wednesday during their homeroom and lunch in Mrs. Armstrong’s science classroom. It was 100% student led; devotional lessons, prayers, and plans for the future. Every week the word was getting about about the amazing things that were happening with our youth and every week the members were increasing. The huddle grew so quickly that when they returned from Christmas Break, the meetings were moved into the gym and averaging between 65-85 students each week. The meetings are still student led but they have begun inviting not only local churches and their youth ministers to speak but also some influences outside of their community who are strong in their faith. They also have a members only GroupMe page so they can all stay in contact and a daily morning devotional is posted. (The students wanted it posted at 6AM so the boys in athletics would be able to see it before their practices began.) So what’s next for Godley Middle School FCA? They are creating a school prayer wall that will be used by the students and staff, fundraising to purchase necessities for the less fortunate, and partnering with a local church for a middle school lock-in. More importantly though, they are continuing to grow in their own faith and get out of their comfort zone to encourage others to get closer to God. There is no limit for these students and the plans that God has for each one of them.

GMS National Junior Honor Society
The Godley Middle School NJHS has been busy this year with several projects that have contributed to our community is a positive way. We started the first semester off with a Teddy Bear Drive. Members collected teddy bears and other stuffed animal to give to the Godley Police Department. During the holidays the group organized a toy drive to help those in need. We were able to donate 3 very large bags of new and unwrapped toys to the First Baptist Church of Godley. For Valentine's Day, we helped spread a little love with a carnation/candy sale. It was a fun way for students to show appreciation to their peers. We are heading into the Spring months looking forward to our service project. We plan to head to the Open Door Food Bank to help sort and distribute food to those in need. This group of students has really come together and is working to make our community a great place!
