MAP Testing - January 7 through January 25
At home, you can help to prepare your child by ensuring that he/she gets plenty of sleep each night and eats a nutritious breakfast each morning. Encourage your child to do his her best on each test. The goal is for the testing to provide a detailed picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn--whether it is on, above, or below grade level--and to plan instruction accordingly.
Car Rider and Parking Lot Safety Concerns
- Morning drop-off and afternoon dismissal are busy times and extra caution is needed while driving on campus. Please be aware of students and families who are walking across the lanes of traffic and in the parking lot.
- When dropping off your child in the morning, please have him/her exit your vehicle on the passenger side. We do not want students to be crossing in front of or behind cars.
- Please remember that buses have the right of way on our campus.
- Parents/guardians are asked to get out of your cars at dismissal to meet your child(ren) in the area blocked off with cones. We realize that this may be an inconvenience, but we feel strongly about your child’s safety in the parking lot when cars are moving. A teacher and our safety patrol will be outside to assist our children.
- Car rider dismissal is immediately following bus dismissal at 2:30 pm. If you have not arrived for pick up by 2:40 pm, your child will be sent to Extended Day and you will be able to pick them up there. Thank you for your cooperation.
- If a family member or friend is responsible for dropping off or picking up your child, be sure to share these reminders with them.
We appreciate your cooperation in keeping all of our students safe!
Playground/Lunchroom Supervision-Grades 3 & 4
The links to sign up for playground/lunchroom supervision for parents/guardians of students in grades 3 and 4 are now live!
We are asking that each family (mom, dad, grandma, etc.) choose at least two days to volunteer for the month of January for 4th grade or February for 3rd grade, each time slot being 11:00-1:00. There are many, many time slots open! If you have a child in another grade level, but would find the time to help, please feel free to fill one of the open slots. We are always grateful for the help!
This is a great way for you to interact with your child and his/her classmates during the school day! Lunch/Recess Volunteers should arrive to school at 11:00 and check in at the office. Duties will include supervising students at recess, escorting students to the cafeteria from recess, and supervising in the cafeteria. Volunteers will be with one teacher and two "core" volunteers each day to help direct. Remember that after your two volunteer time slots, you are done for the year, as each month is assigned to a different grade.
Thank you again for your time and service to the students and teachers of SPB! Simply click on the grade level link to pick a time convenient for you: Grade 4 , or Grade 3.
Thank you very much to the following parents who were able to volunteer during the month of December:
