Definition
PTSD is a condition that may develop after a person's exposure to a terrifying event that threatened or caused physical harm
Causes ,Symptoms , and Age/Gender
Causes: witnessing or experiencing a life threatening event
Symptoms: flashbacks, nightmares, emotional numbness, sleeplessness, guilt, and problems with concentrating
Age: 6-24
Gender: Usually Female (but can happen to male)

Treatments
Treatment includes different types of psychotherapy as well as medications to manage depression and anxiety. (seeing professional help)

If you witness a horrifying event and become traumatized by it, you have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. PTSD was discovered as a real disorder in 1980. An example of when an event made someone traumatized was 9/11, or any other terrorist attack. People in any form of military commonly get PTSD and have flashbacks of when they might of had to take someones life or make a serious decision that involves killing.One in six soldiers returning from Iraq or Afghanistan suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. The disorder can sometimes last for the rest of your life, sometimes causing serious depression.
