CHES Parent Newsletter
2022-2023
January 30- February 3, 2023
From Mrs. Fierro's desk...
Mighty Hawk Parents,
This month will be filled with opportunities for all of you to support our fundraisers or attend the upcoming parent conferences. We highly encourage you to attend the parent conferences that are being offered. It is a great opportunity for you to learn new strategies that you can use at home with your child(ren) to reinforce their academic learning. During the month of February, we are stressing the importance of RAK (random acts of kindness). Help us by showing your chid(ren) different ways to show kindness to others. Check out the suggestions below. Have a wonderful weekend!
With care,
Mrs. Fierro
From Mrs. Castillo, Assistant Principal
We are very excited to see the number of students that are getting to school on time and present every day. We welcome donations of small prizes for students for our prize box that they get to pick from. We have assorted items from toys to school boxes and pencil pouches in our box.
We appreciate your support in having your children here at school. Together, we can ensure student success!
From Mrs. Luevano, librarian
Parents,
Free Dress yellow fluorescent bracelets have been passed out. If your child received one, it is because they met their reading goal for the second nine weeks. Great job! Your child can have free dress any day of their choosing as long as they have their bracelet on (one time use). Please continue to encourage your child to read at least 15 minutes a day.
Important information...
Safety
Safety is our number one priority on campus. For this reason we ask that everyone present a government issued ID when coming on our campus. We will not allow you inside of our campus if you do not present an ID. No exceptions will be made.
Door sweeps are completed on a weekly basis by our admin, custodians, YISD security and El Paso PD. The door sweeps are conducted to make sure that all exterior doors and gates are locked.
We have a YISD Security officer that patrols and walks the campus on a daily basis.
This month we will be practicing our Fire Drill, Secure and Shelter in Place. As we practice the drills with the students and staff, we will be presenting different scenarios. This is in an effort to continue preparing our students and staff for any type of emergency. Mental preparation is key.
Arrival/Dismissal
Parents we ask your help in making sure that your child(ren) arrive on time to school. We have seen an increase in tardies. School starts at 7:30am and we quickly begin with instruction. If your child is late, it causes them to start the day off later than the rest of the students. Below is the schedule of how our day starts.
7:30-7:45am- Breakfast/Announcements
7:45 Teachers begin with the instructional day
Parents, please remember that our campus is open at 7am. We do not have staff arriving before then. Do not leave your kids at school before then, as we do not have anyone to monitor them. This is a safety issue and we want to ensure that our Mighty Hawks are safe at all times.
Dismissal is at 2:45pm, 3:30pm (tutoring) and 4pm Extended Day and we also ask that you arrive on time for your child. When children are not picked up on time, it causes them to worry. Thank you for picking up your child on time!
Doctor's Note
Parents we will no longer have a bin outside of the school for you to drop off doctor notes. Please make sure that you either send it with your child or come inside the school and drop it off in the front office with Ms. Neria.
Help
We need your help! Parents please help us in making sure that students go to bed on time. Sleep is very important to your child. Students are coming to the nurse and asking to take a nap because they went to bed late and can not function in class. Take a look at the suggestions below.
Volunteers
We are currently looking for volunteers to assist on our campus. If you are interested, come by and speak to Isela Lucero. Click on the link below for volunteer application.
