ABCs of Growth Mindset
Our ABCs of Growth Mindset this week.
B stands for BRAIN. Mistakes make my brain grow.
Most kids are afraid to fail and, as parents and teachers, we naturally want our kids to succeed. But what if we recognized failure is good and a crucial step on the path to learning?
Failure is a necessary component of success (not its opposite). In fact, our brains grow and develop in important ways whenever failure occurs. When kids understand this concept, amazing things can happen for them (and for us).
At home:
Video: Celebrating the Importance of Mistakes
Ways to CELEBRATE mistakes:
- Give kids an opportunity to brag about their mistakes and what they learned
- Read about famous people who have failed
- Discuss the acronym for FAIL (First Attempt In Learning)
- Discuss that research proves our brains "spark and grow" whenever we make mistakes

Neighborhood Traffic Safety
Our top priority is always student safety! Please be courteous to our campus supervisors, staff, our neighbors, and other drivers when dropping off or picking up. Please be sure you are not blocking driveways and mailboxes in the neighborhood. On trash days, please do not block the neighbor's trash cans either.
Campus opens each day at 7:40 a.m. Avoid the traffic and the rush by arriving before 7:55 a.m. After school we have campus supervision until 2:25. Students should report to their designated pick-up location immediately after school. Students should not be on the playgrounds or wandering around campus.
